90’s nu-metal• 90’s nu-metal was a fusion of metal and hip hop, creating bands such

2000’s• Most Nu-metal bands continued into the 2000’s, some slightly changing their

style and some not, however a lot of new bands were formed, which were much more like original heavy metal with bands like, Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch. In the 2000’s music videos became much more accessible and therefore more cinematic.• Slipknot followed trends of Nu-metal and also modern heavy metal :

2010’s• Most of the metal bands since the 80’s onwards are still performing, so it became

hard for new bands to gain large followings.• A lot of bands became very cinematic and used their music and their videos to try
