• Listening to one another! Everyone in this class has a right to an opinion, and everyone respects one another.

• A high level of motivation and enthusiasm. You chose this subject!

• Taking part in extra-curricular media activities – showing an initative for your future. (Film Club and Media Club….Coming soon).

What makes a good Media Studies Student?

• Creative, artistic, imaginative – good written skills and art skills are a must! • You love television, film and popular culture – what’s hot and what’s not.

Please watch more television, films, adverts! • You love to discuss new game-shows, sitcoms, video games – then discuss

their appeal. • You read lots of different magazines and newspapers regularly.• You watch award shows like the Soap Awards or Oscars. • You’re interested in trends in society.• You want to design storyboards, new newspapers, film and edit movie

trailers.• You might want to work in the media in the future or study this at college

or university.

• YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE HIGH GRADES – YOU MEET DEADLINES.

AQA A LEVEL MEDIA STUDIES

• MEST 2 – COURSEWORK, CREATING MEDIA.

• This Unit is worth 50% of the course. (80 marks).

MEST 2 CREATING MEDIA TASK:

• You will be given externally set production briefs.

• You will create two linked production pieces taken from two of the three media platforms (Broadcasting, Print, E-Media) plus a 1500 word evaluation.

• Pre-production work

• Production Work – (You create two media productions from broadcasting, print or e-

media).

• Evaluation – 1500 words

• Pre-production and Rationale Presentations: Completed by the end of Christmas Term.

• Production Pieces• Completed before the Easter Holidays

• Evaluation• Completed before May Deadline

Grouping Issues

• If a candidate decides to work in a group for one of the tasks, the second task must be completed individually by the candidate.

• Group Numbers:

• Filming – No more than 4 people.• Print/E-Media – No more than 2 people.

• If you work in a group, you must be able to provide evidence of the work you have contributed. It will be noted if you are not pulling your weight and can dramatically reduce your marks!

More Grouping

• Decide carefully who you want to work with…..

• You can work individually on both tasks if you wish. But make sure you are organised and have

enough time to complete both tasks.

• All research and evaluations must be completed individually.
