VERSE OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the
heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him,
all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! Praise him,
sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars!
Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let
them praise the name of the LORD!
For he commanded, and they were created. And
he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

"I want to believe, I want to have hope, but . . ." Pastor and bestselling author Craig Groeschel hears these words often and has asked them himself. We want to know God, feel his presence, and trust that he hears our prayers, but in the midst of great pain, we may wonder if he really cares about us. Even when we have both hope and hurt, sometimes it's the hurt that shouts the loudest. Can God be good when life is not?
In Hope in the Dark, Groeschel explores the story of the father who brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus, saying, "I believe! Help my unbelief!" In the man’s sincere plea, Jesus heard the tension in the man's battle-scarred heart. He healed not only the boy but the father too, driving out the hopelessness that had overtaken him. He can do the same for us today.

BOOK of the month
HOPE IN THE DARK BELIEVING GOD IS GOOD WHEN LIFE IS NOT
BY CRAIG GROESCHEL
Upcoming Events
As Groeschel shares his pain surrounding the current health challenges of his daughter, he acknowledges the questions we may ask in our own deepest pain: "Where was God when I was being abused?" "Why was my child born with a disability?" "Why did the cancer come back?" "Why are all my friends married and I’m alone?" He invites us to wrestle with such questions as we ask God to honor our faith and heal our unbelief.
In the middle of your profound pain, you long for authentic words of understanding and hope. You long to know that even in overwhelming reality, you can still believe that God is good. Rediscover a faith in the character, power, and presence of God. Even in the questions. Even now.

Chorus
Praise the Lord hallelu
I don't care what the devil's gonna do
The Word in faith is my sword and shield
Jesus is the Lord of the way I feel
Verse 1
Though the fig tree shall not blossom
Though there be no grapes upon the vine
Though the olive tree shall cast its fruit
And the field shall yield no grains to grind
Though the flock shall all be scattered
And there be no cattle in the stall
The Lord is still my joy and strength
And by his word he'll change it all
Chorus
Verse 2
The Spirit of the Lord is here
And he has commanded me
To tell the news to everyone
He's here to set the captive free
So if you're broken hearted
Tired of all the chains you wear
The Lord is here to heal you now
And break the power that holds you there

Shout To The Lord
CCLI #1406918 | Darlene Zschech
Verse
My Jesus my Saviour
Lord there is none like You
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath all that I am
Never cease to worship You
Chorus
Shout to the Lord
All the earth let us sing
Power and majesty
Praise to the King
Mountains bow down
And the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy
At the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love You
Forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise
I have in You
SAFETY CORNER
There is no doubt that things have changed in your life due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Here are a few of the changes we have implemented to help maintain health and safety here at
Shepherd of the Hills
Are you interested in serving here at Shepherd of the Hills? Here are just a few
areas that have an active need.
Multimedia Live Stream Team: We're looking for people to join our multimedia team on Sunday mornings. You would be helping with video and audio production, sound mixing, and other tech-related areas of the Sunday service. If you're interested in helping, let us know! Experience not needed and we will provide all the training you need. Email pastor Jon at [email protected] Virtual Visitation Team: Relationships are an important part to the Christian faith. Even though we are currently limited in our ability to meet together as a body of believers, we can still stay connected to one another using today’s technology. You can help our visitation team by keeping our fellow members informed by making phone calls, using social media, and more. If interested, please contact the church office or email the church staff at [email protected].
Journalist: We are looking for someone to serve as a journalist for our church publication, "The Shepherd's Staff." If you enjoy writing, photography, or other print publication work, and would like to serve, please contact the church for more information. Email [email protected].
Sunday Morning Teams: As we transition to a 3-service Sunday morning, we will need additional volunteers to help with during each service. This includes our Audio/Visual team, snack team, ushers and greeters, and so forth. If you are interested in serving in any area, please contact the church office, speak with one of the pastors, or email us at [email protected].
• Greeting time- We will be eliminating
the greeting time. We know it is
something we have done for a long time,
but it does not allow for social distancing
and may increase the risk of transmission.
• Offering- In the past we have passed an
offering plate from person to person.
Because this presents a way in which
infection can be spread, we will be
moving to free-standing offering boxes
placed in each aisle in the sanctuary.
• Bulletins and Greeters- We will
continue offering printed bulletins and
they will be available for pick up in the
foyer. Our greeters will be there to greet
us with a warm welcome and “hello,” and
will be happy to point us to the bulletins
available for pick up.
• Building Security- During the week the
church building will only be accessible
through the front foyer doors at the
Sanctuary. In addition, we will be locking
the building each night.
• Communion- Communion has be
adjusted so there will be no open food
which may be contaminated.
• Snacks- Similar to communion, we will
be limiting open food options and provide
individually portioned servings.
• Children’s Ministry- We are now
offering Children’s Church during the
11:00 AM morning service. Children’s
church is available for ages 3-10.
• Schedule- Finally, we will be adjusting
our service times to include the addition
of a third service.
1st Service 8:00-9:00
Worship Service (traditional)
2nd Service 9:30-10:30
Worship Service (contemporary)
Adult Sunday School (entire hour)
3rd Service 11:00-12:00

JULY MISSIONS
Vision Project
The Stoke family lives in the mountains of Papua Indonesia amongst a people group named the “Dem.” They are an isolated people group that have no written form of their language, never had any western influences and are completely remote. The only way in or out if by using a small missionary plane or their feet.
They are currently learning their language so that one day they will be able to present the Gospel to the Dem and translate the Bible into their language. Until they can clearly present the Gospel the ministry consists of learning the language and medical needs.
Where they live there is no power company, no water company, no roads or corner mini mart. They live off solar panels, water from a stream and the trip to the grocery store is a plane landing with a couple months’ worth of food.
“We are Jeremiah & Briana Stokes. We have 3 children Eden Jericho and Noelle and we are missionaries with New Tribes Mission in Indonesia.
We moved overseas July 4, 2010. We are both from Pennsylvania but opposite sides of the state. Briana is from eastern Pa and Jeremiah is from Pittsburgh. We both grew up in Christian homes but when we were in our first year of college, we were confronted with the fact that there are unreached tribal people groups that have no access to the Bible.”

Don & Christine Ames
Don & Christine Ames are the vision project for the month of July.
The Ames have been supported by Shepherd of the Hills Church for a number of years. They are currently semi-retired. Don is going on short-term trips to Haiti and other areas of need where his skills in construction can be used to benefit local churches. Christine works with local women on issues of health and wellness.
MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT
CORNER MINISTRY
Our ministries here at Shepherd of the Hills Church allow us to carry
out our mission by addressing a specific area of need in our community.
To learn more about a ministry, tap on a logo below.
Nothing about the Christian faith is by accident, it all requires being intentional about your relationship with God. Membership allows us to extend that intentional approach to our church connection. At Shepherd of the Hills being a member is a way of saying "I'm committed to growing in my faith with these brothers and sisters in Christ." Membership also allows the church to commit to you by pledging to help you in any way possible.
Every second Sunday at 12:15 PM we offer a membership class for those wishing to join our congregation.
If you would like to attend a membership class, please sign up at the welcome desk in the foyer or email Pastor Collin at [email protected] to be added to the list.
MEMBERSHIP AT SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS
The great commission states clearly the directive of the church, to go into all the world and preach the gospel of Jesus. Everyone is called to fulfill the great commission but there are some who are called leave everything and spread the gospel internationally.
It is our desire to support them in fulfilling their calling. We do this by supporting our monthly mission’s commitments, missionaries we support the same months year after year. We also do this by supporting our vision projects, missionaries or organizations who are nominated and selected monthly based on the work they are doing.
The missions committee meets monthly to pray for our missionaries, discuss their needs, and to select upcoming vision projects. All the missionaries we support align with our
statement of beliefs and have been approved by our church elders. The committee normally meets the third Monday of every month; if you have a heart for missions and are interested in join our missions committee speak with Pastor Charles.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’
Mark 16:15
