THIS IS MY BELOVED SON This Sunday’s celebration of the Baptism of the Lord closes the Christmas season. In the scriptures we see one more epiphany, or manifestation, of the Spirit of God in Jesus—but this time it is as an adult, rather than as a child. Jesus’ baptism also serves as the inauguration of his prophetic mission and the messianic age. Today’s reading from Isaiah describes God’s chosen Messiah, upon whom God’s spirit rests. In the Acts of the Apostles Peter says that “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power” (Acts 10:38). Finally, in the proclamation from Matthew’s Gospel Jesus’ baptism in water goes almost unnoticed. The crucial moment comes when the Spirit of God comes upon Jesus and a voice from heaven echoes the words of Isaiah: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).
Bill Pay An easy way to contribute to your Church in the New Year
Onlinebillpayofferedbyyourbank is a service that sends money out of your bank account to whoever you wish. In many cases these online bill pay services will actually print a check and mail it to the recipient.
If you really like to automate things so that you don’t have to think about them, you can automate online bill pay. Almost all online bill pay services will allow you to set up recurring payments. For example, you can have the online bill pay service take care of your offertory every week, bi-weekly or monthly. To set up a recurring payment with your banking account you need to visit the Bill Pay section of your online banking page or visit your local branch. You will set up a profile for the offering that you want to pay online. This profile will include your account number, our address where the payment will be sent and the Church’s name. Then select set up recurring payment. You will set a monthly date for the draft to come out. On this check you will have your name and you can also have your Offertory number. This number will be a special number assigned to you so we will not have to give out an envelope. This process will be very cost effective for you and for your church. This is not “on-line giving” to our account. This process is simple no cost process available at your bank. A check will be sent to the church on a regular basis that you choose. No more writing checks ~ convenient ~ consistent way of supporting your church.

Y, que hemos comprobado, en estos tiempos con la vida tan agitada que llevamos se hacen necesarios para recuperar la serenidad interior, y sentir la presencia de Dios en nuestro diario vivir.
