Well that year went quick! Time seems to move faster as you get older.
Looking forward to the New Year: the Lodge has several events planned thru the next few months. January 18th we will be holding Law Enforcement Appreciation Night where we pay tribute to Police Ocers in our community. Plan on attending to hear why the Ocers were selected that will be receiving the awards.
Jan 3 will be our steak and salmon night with music by Black Jack. The Lodge Golf Club will be present for their annual dinner on this night.
Jan 12 we will be back on schedule for our Lodge monthly breakfast serving eggs the way you like them, potatoes, pancakes, sausage or bacon. All this for only $8.oo a person! Includes juice and coee.
Feb 2 will be the Super Bowl and plans are still being made for the food but we all know PELK Earl Wilford will be there to run the show.
On March 8th, the PER Association is planning on having all Veterans down to the Lodge to relive the good old memories of SOS (S--- on Shingle) being served!! Bring your friends so they have an opportunity to taste what the military said would make us all big and strong! It should be a fun laughing evening with the entertainment that is planned. The scuttlebutt has it that The Andrews Sisters will be making an appearance.
If you wondered whose been doing all the ne photos and articles that are printed in the State Magazine about our Lodge, Joe Miller, an associate member, has been doing this for the past year and we thank him. When you see him, please thank him again for this work.
We had an excellent turnout of volunteers for Clothe-a-Child on Dec 7 and the following day most of the same volunteers showed up for Hoop Shoot. A thank you to all of them and especially to Sandi Mittelstaedt, who spent countless hours the last several months putting the Clothe-a-Child program together for our Lodge.

Teen also made blankets and did some designs on them. And also a thank you to the knitting ladies for the blankets that they made for the veterans..

This basketball season, fans are tuned into the Elks Hoop Shoot. Local contests are under way, and young athletes are vying to sink the most of 25 free throws to advance down the road to Springeld, Massachusetts for the National Finals. The Hoop Shoot couldnít happen without our dedicated volunteers, which include Elks scholars.

Lodge 385 Knit for the Vets Pays off Way back on October the Ladies at Lodge 385 in Tucson, Az. (The two groups that worked on this are the ladies from Cotton Patchers and the Elks ladies from the Pearl 1,Knit 2 club) Decided to get together and ” Knit for the Vets”. Every Tuesday in October and through December 3rd , They got together and knitted their fingers to the bone.
Well, it paid off, when on Friday December 20th , Volunteers from 385 delivered their knitted goods to our Veterans currently having to spend their Christmas Holiday at the Southern Arizona Veterans Health Care Center.
It was the Veterans Christmas Party and thanks to those warm knitted gifts our Veterans are going to be just that much more comfortable during their hospital Stay.

Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, by undertaking projects that address unmet need, and by honoring the service and sacrice of our veterans.
