Message from the President Gary Duvall
At our LCIA Board meeting in April, we set our first four goals for 2019-2020. In order of priority: Raise membership to 300 or more……………..1st Get younger people involved………………….. 2nd Use the LCCC more; advertising it……………..3rd Improving communication with members……...4th We will seek members’ input at our first meeting on these priorities and other issues of mutual interest. We look forward to a lively discussion and creative ideas. Other items that we will be discussing include: * status of the legal action taken last fall to stop logging of Frailey Mountain’s unstable north slope, which abuts on lake properties; * lake level and lake water quality reports; * report on past and upcoming events and activities at the LCCC and around the lake; * a report from our land use committee on the status of Skagit County’s long delayed Shoreline Management Act regulations update, including pending new dock size rules, and building setback requirements; * a report on efforts to bring recycling to the lake; * and other items of interest. We want to include as many people as possible in the LCIA. We are always looking for additional volunteers, and we have a Board opening. Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends while giving back to the community. Please contact me or the relevant activity chair listed on our website if you want to get involved. I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming member meeting on May 25th and at events this summer!
I am honored to serve as your new LCIA President for 2019-2020. Thanks to Rob Pattermann for so ably serving as President the past two years. I hope that you survived “Snowmageddon 2019”. Several of your LCIA advertisers have been busy
with gutter and other repairs. (A shameless plug 😊;
see ads in this issue below).) Our first LCIA member meeting is scheduled for Saturday May 25th at 10am at the Community Center (LCCC). Join now online at www.lakecavanaugh.info, or use the form attached, or bring your check to the meeting. THIS IS THE ONLY NEWSLETTER THAT WILL BE SENT TO NON-MEMBERS. The benefits of membership include: * receive three additional newsletters and other communications;
* come to, and help plan, our fun community and family events;
* access free Lake Cavanaugh directory;
* use our lending library;
* attend, discuss, and vote at four annual community meetings (critical issues have included stopping risky logging on unstable lake-side slopes, allowing flexible dock sizes, keeping water quality high, and lake level monitoring);
* rent the community center (LCCC) and its grounds for your events (and use the sports court being constructed in summer 2019); *participate and connect with others and give back to the community

LAKE CAVANAUGH HALL RENTAL
INFORMATION
Cavanaugh Community Church begins its 2019 season on Sunday June 9, 2019, and continues every Sunday until September 8, 2019. Our non-denominational Christian gatherings will be pastored by Patrick Vance for the whole summer! In the past we have had a variety of pastors/speakers at our summer church, so, this will be a treat having a continuous pastor all summer long. Our Community Center has been gracious enough to allow us to meet Sundays at 10 a.m. to meet, greet, and eat-did I mention that we have coffee and treats after every service?
We need someone to play the piano for our hymns. If you can help any Sunday during the summer call Carol at 425-353-1670. So, the word is: Come Sundays at 10a.m. to hear
God’s message to us and start the week on a
positive note! Looking forward to all the sharing,
caring and praying for one another this summer!
Did I hear an AMEN?!!!
Come and join the fun!
