Update 9
Chargers have given us so many reasons to be proud already in the 2015-2016 school year. Our grade nine students have transi-tioned well into secondary school and are ac-tively involved in school life in a variety of ca-pacities. Our Link Crew is outstanding and has provided multiple opportunities for our junior students to get involved, to feel wel-comed, and to have fun since Grade 9 Orien-tation in early September. They hosted a jun-ior dance, a Hawaiian luau in the cafeteria, and some spooktacular activities in the week leading up to Halloween. Centennial is so thankful for its student leaders.
Leadership is also evident in our Student’s
Council this school year. This group of dedi-
cated students have implemented a variety of
spirit based events including the Terry Fox
Run, Halloween in the cafeteria, a Halloween
costume dance, and most recently, they par-
ticipated in the Santa Clause Parade. They
consistently represent our school as exempla-
ry ambassadors. As part of their community
outreach commitment, they donated $1000.00
to Coats for Kids and are preparing for the
upcoming Christmas Sharing Assembly. Each
year we provide support to families to make
Christmas meaningful and special. Moreover,
they are planning for a whole school imple-
mentation of a House System – stay tuned for
more details.
Right now, Centennial is participating in the
Anti-Bullying awareness campaign. We appre-
ciate the leadership of our GSA as they are
providing us with daily awareness, opportuni-
ties to highlight acts of kindness, and remind-
ers around the importance of celebrating an
inclusive school community. They are remind-
ing all of us to “Say One Nice Thing” and
make a difference in the lives of others.
We have much to celebrate in terms of athletic
leadership this fall season. Our Senior Boys
are Bay of Quinte Football Champions once
again and our Junior Girls are Bay of Quinte
Basketball Champions. We are proud of all of
our athletes as they wore their green and gold
and played with Charger Passion. Our winter
season is already in full swing and we look
forward to more personal and team victories.
Many clubs are also up and running and en-
gaging our students in school life. Students
can discover lots to do on their lunch break
including extra help options in classrooms,
peer tutoring in the library, physical activity in
the gym, conversation club, social club, GSA
club, anime club, and much more.
We so value the dedication and support of our
staff, as none of the student leadership activi-
ties, or opportunities for students to engage in
school life would be possible without them.
Their commitment to developing the whole
student both in and outside of the classroom
is exemplary.
Please find enclosed your student’s mid-term
report card. Pay close attention to learning
skills achievement and discuss connections to
marks with your student. Your Student Suc-
cess Team will be meeting with students who
require additional support, but please contact
the school with any questions or concerns.

happening at CSS by looking at our on-line
newsletter at css.hpedsb.on.ca. Looking for-
ward to a great rest of the year!

Students bring in projects that they want to try or any projects they want to finish up. Last week, the club painted the fireplace for the Santa Claus parade. If you want to try something different, bring along your materials, your ideas and join the art club. See Ms. Lindenberg for more details!

Senior Football 2015
The senior football team had another very successful year. The team captured the Bay of Quinte champion-ship, defeating Quinte SS and sweeping the season games with an 8-0 record in Bay of Quinte. At COSSA the team lost a close game to Crestwood. The team finished with an incredible 9-1 record. The team was very balanced with an aggressive and talented defence that allowed the opposition very few points. The team scored over 300 points and only gave up 25 points in total over the 10 games. The offense used a great passing attack mixed with a solid running game. The coaching staff, Mr. DiCresce, Mr. Woodcock, Mr. White, and Mr. Stapley would like to express our thanks to the efforts of all players moving on from our pro-gram. We are excited about the amazing talent we have returning for the 2016 season.

She has also shown Charger Pride by participating in the Arts program and submitting a creative logo for Centennial’s 50th Anniversary logo competition. Congratulations Marika!

All students get a chance to make new friends and have a great time. Conversation Club takes place at lunch. For more information, see Ms. Lindenberg or Ms. Mullins.
