Dear Parents and Guardians T HIS is the final term of 2016, and it will be a short but intense one for all of us at CHIJ Secondary. Term 3 offered us time for bonding and for appreci- ating and understanding each other through the cel- ebration of Youth Day, Racial Harmony Day, National Day and Teachers’ Day. We celebrated both staff and students alike, and embraced the IJ family as it should be – filled with love, faith, trust and spirit. We also saw our Secondary 3 girls go through their Outward Bound Singapore experience, while our Secondary 2 girls had their adventure camp. The ca- maraderie and spirit built and experienced will stay with our girls long after they leave our gates. Inter- mingled with their academic journey are life expe- riences with all their richness and intensity, which strengthen our girls and mould them into the Women of Distinction that we all hope they grow up to be. Last term, we bade farewell to two special individ- uals – our former president Mr S R Nathan and our very own Sr Deirdre O’Loan, Supervisor of the IJ Schools in Singapore. Sr Deirdre was a dear IJ Sister who supported and encouraged us every step of the way. We will always remember and cherish her love and commitment to CHIJ, and will miss her presence at our school events, which she always made it a point to attend. We thank our Parent Support Group (PSG) for sup- porting our graduating students during their night study last term: our mummies lovingly cooked nu- tritious and sumptuous meals night after night. This year saw record numbers of girls staying for night study, with each other and their teachers, banding together in mutual support – the IJ way. This term, as we move into examination mode, we ask for your thoughts and prayers for each and every student. In particular, keep our graduating girls in your prayers, as they embark on their N and O Lev- el examinations. Our PSG has specially arranged for prayer sessions for our N and O Level girls (please see page 6 for details) ; we encourage you to join them in our chapel if possible. Our newly minted student leaders will have their In- vestiture on 16 September; we congratulate them and wish them the best on their leadership journey. At our Graduation Ceremony on 23 September, we will bid adieu to yet another cohort of IJ Girls; they will always be in our hearts and remain a part of the IJ legacy. We wish one and all a wonderful term 4, and, togeth- er as one IJ family, let us embrace this new term, and see the year through with faith and love, always re- maining Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty. As usual, if you have feedback, please email me at [email protected] or [email protected]. God bless us all. Dear Parents and Guardians

T HIS is the final term of 2016, and it will be a short but intense one for all of us at CHIJ Secondary.

Term 3 offered us time for bonding and for appreci-ating and understanding each other through the cel-ebration of Youth Day, Racial Harmony Day, National Day and Teachers’ Day. We celebrated both staff and students alike, and embraced the IJ family as it should be – filled with love, faith, trust and spirit.

We also saw our Secondary 3 girls go through their Outward Bound Singapore experience, while our Secondary 2 girls had their adventure camp. The ca-maraderie and spirit built and experienced will stay with our girls long after they leave our gates. Inter-mingled with their academic journey are life expe-riences with all their richness and intensity, which strengthen our girls and mould them into the Women of Distinction that we all hope they grow up to be.

Last term, we bade farewell to two special individ-uals – our former president Mr S R Nathan and our very own Sr Deirdre O’Loan, Supervisor of the IJ Schools in Singapore. Sr Deirdre was a dear IJ Sister who supported and encouraged us every step of the way. We will always remember and cherish her love and commitment to CHIJ, and will miss her presence at our school events, which she always made it a point to attend.

We thank our Parent Support Group (PSG) for sup-porting our graduating students during their night

study last term: our mummies lovingly cooked nu-tritious and sumptuous meals night after night. This year saw record numbers of girls staying for night study, with each other and their teachers, banding together in mutual support – the IJ way.

This term, as we move into examination mode, we ask for your thoughts and prayers for each and every student. In particular, keep our graduating girls in your prayers, as they embark on their N and O Lev-el examinations. Our PSG has specially arranged for prayer sessions for our N and O Level girls (please see page 6 for details); we encourage you to join them in our chapel if possible.

Our newly minted student leaders will have their In-vestiture on 16 September; we congratulate them and wish them the best on their leadership journey. At our Graduation Ceremony on 23 September, we will bid adieu to yet another cohort of IJ Girls; they will always be in our hearts and remain a part of the IJ legacy.

We wish one and all a wonderful term 4, and, togeth-er as one IJ family, let us embrace this new term, and see the year through with faith and love, always re-maining Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty.

As usual, if you have feedback, please email me at [email protected] or [email protected]. God bless us all.

Warmest regards
