Mesh banners constitute an excellent and affordable alternative to conventionalbanners. For a wide range of applications, mesh banners are the ideal optionparticularly for long term outdoor deployment. The mesh banners are specificallyadvantageous as a replacement for scaffolding wraps and building wraps becausethey can withstand moderate to heavy wind conditions which is a major advantagefor buildings under construction and scaffoldings. Mesh banners are lightweight andyet strong enough to perform its functions under tough conditions. Mesh bannersare also ideal where large size banners need to be deployed. The perforations in themesh banners will allow air to escape without affecting the stability of the banners.

Apart from cost considerations, there are at least 3 major factors that need to beconsidered while choosing mesh banners. Area of deployment – i.e., whether thebanners are to be deployed indoors or outdoors with regard to the tightness of theweave, print resolution and the size of the banner, and the finishing of your meshmeshmeshmeshbannerbannerbannerbanner are these three factors.

A 70/30 mesh is considered ideal when the viewing distance of the banner is greaterthan 10 feet. This way, the mesh banners are light in weight and yet strong and thecolors will be vibrant while the reflective qualities will peg between matt and gloss.For outdoor deployment where wind is a major consideration, the mesh banners areconsidered very ideal because the holes provided on the mesh allows air to passthrough the banner allowing substantial control over the ‘sail effect’. The 70/30mesh size is better understood as 70% printable surface and 30% holes. The volumeof air that can pass through this mesh size is about 30% and correspondingly the‘sail effect’ is also reduced by the same degree. A 30/70 weave on the other hand willcarry 30% printable surface and 70% holes.

Size and the distance must be considered to obtain the best print clarity on meshbanners. The print resolution is set to the highest degree when viewing is from theclosest distance. A 300 dpi printing is often recommended for mesh bannersexhibited at entrances, fending, walkway etc. to ensure clean and crisp images.Larger banners on the other hand are often viewed from distances greater than1/4th mile and therefore a 72 dpi printing is recommended. With the higherdistance, the difference in print resolution will not be noticeable for the viewer.

For most indoor applications, reinforcement of seams and hems may not benecessary, except when the banner is extra large or exposed to extraordinaryconditions. On the other hand, for outdoor applications, the reinforcement must beinsisted upon since the mesh banners will be subjected to the forces of Nature. Foroutdoor applications, you may also want to consider professional services forinstallation. By virtue of their experience, they are in a better position to understandthe wind velocity and other factors that can potentially affect the stability of yourmesh banners when installed.
