On the cOverThe new Mesa Tactical Full Length Saddle Rail for the Remington shotguns is the logical (and literal) extension of our popular Saddle Rails and Saddle Mount SureShell shotshell carriers. Secured at the front by a Magazine Clamp or a Barrel Clamp, they allow the use of supplemental night vision optics or back-up iron sights. They are described in more detail on page 9 and 15.

telescOping stOck and adapter kits

The concept behind the telescop-ing stock system is simple: the shotgun stock is replaced by an adapter, which attaches to the rear end of the shotgun’s receiver and it, in turn, mimics the rear end of an AR-15 lower receiver, into which an AR-15 receiver extension tube can be threaded. The AR-15 telescoping stock and pistol grip can then be reliably attached.

Our stock adapters are investment cast aircraft aluminum, which are then CNC machined and anodized with a Type III Class 2 mil-spec finish. The ITT Enidine recoil buffer is also CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and meets the stringent standards of military and law enforcement users.

To meet the divergent requirements of professional operators, we offer three lines of telescoping stock systems: High-tube™, Low-tube™ and LEO.

The LEO adapter, manufactured for the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/590, is our most basic, best-selling model, and features an optimal stock elevation al-lowing the use of iron sights or even the bead sight. All LEO adapters accept optional push-button sling swivels, and Remington 870 LEO adapters can accept stamped steel sling loop and hook loops. The LEO’s low cost and streamlined appearance make it the best choice for agencies looking for a simple, reli-able telescoping stock at an affordable price.

Our High-tube and Low-tube adapters are generally specialist adapters for unusual law enforcement applications or competition. Accessory mounting points on the sides of the High-tube and Low-tube aluminum adapters accept Picatinny rails, sling mounts or Mesa Tactical shell carriers, and are fitted with HeliCoil® stainless steel thread inserts for strength and long life.

Low-tube adapters feature the same low stock elevation as the LEO adapters; High-tube adapters share the proportions of an AR-15 and include a Picatinny rail on which to mount optics (note: High-tube adapters cannot be used without rail-mounted sights of some kind).

Our aluminum adapter kits include everything necessary to retrofit pump shotguns with most AR-15 style stocks and pistol grips. Our adapter kits allow customers to add their own AR-15 stock assemblies as desired.

Our complete stock kits include everything necessary to retrofit pump shotguns with telescoping stocks and pistol grips. They include the aluminum AR adapter; Hogue rubber overmolded grip; US-made five-position M4 SOPMOD style telescoping stock assembly; and all necessary assembly hardware and instructions. The High-tube stock kits also include a receiver-length top Picatinny rail. A push-button sling swivel is included with all stock kits.

The ITT Enidine hydraulic recoil buffer can take the place of the receiver ex-tension tube, converting the AR-15 telescoping stock into a recoil-buffered stock assembly without further modification. Recoil-buffered versions are available for all three of the telescoping stock systems, or the recoil buffer can be purchased separately (see page 7).

Our basic kits include the adapter and all necessary installation hardware. No fitting or gunsmithing is required for installation.

Ordering inFOrMatiOn leo and low-tube: LEO and Low-tube adapters feature a lower stock el-evation for use with receiver-mounted sights or no sights at all. While all adapt-ers are designed for installation on 12 gauge shotguns, the LEO and Low-tube Telescoping Stock Adapter for Remington 870 can also be fitted to 20 gauge Remington 870s.

Butt pads and recOil BuFFersBecause those M4 telescoping stocks were not designed with shotguns in mind they aren’t the most comfortable buttstocks. We recommend you use some kind of butt pad. These USGI-style slip-on rubber butt pads expand the butt’s surface area and make it easier and more comfortable to shoulder and fire your weapon.

Any Mesa Tactical telescoping stock kit can be upgraded with an ITT Enidine hydrau-lic recoil buffer to reduce felt recoil by up to 70%. These hydraulic recoil buffer assem-blies replace the receiver extension tubes in our stock kits. They are of mil-spec diameter, giving them a snug fit with mil-spec buttstocks; and a looser, though still tolerable fit with “commercial” aftermarket buttstocks. Purchase either a complete replacement M4 SOPMOD recoil buttstock assembly, or the “drop in” hydraulic buffer alone.

Our SureShell shotshell carriers were developed in response to requests from law enforcement agencies and armorers for shell carrier solutions that retained ammunition reliably and could withstand the rigors of daily use and abuse. Fabricated from aircraft aluminum, they feature an innovative rubber friction retention system and tough construction to endure years of use and abuse. Since their introduction in the spring of 2005, they have rapidly become our best-selling accessories, and an emerging industry standard.

SureShell carrier yokes are milled from 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, then bead blasted and mil-spec hard anodized for a rugged non-glare finish. SureShell yokes are secured to application-specific brackets, and sometimes include high tempera-ture adhesive-backed die-cut rubber gaskets to protect the host shotgun’s finish.

Most of our SureShell shotshell carriers mount directly to the receiver of leading shotgun platforms.

reMingtOnMesa Tactical offers two methods for mounting SureShell shotshell carriers to Remington 870, Remington 1100 and Remington 11-87 shotguns. Our traditional side mount SureShell carriers attach via flat aluminum brackets to the sides of the shotgun receiver. We also offer unique saddle rail SureShell carriers that com-bine a shell carrier with a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail that accepts optical sights.

Remington SureShell carriers are available in both 12 gauge and 20 gauge models. Several 12 gauge carriers are offered with REALTREE® camouflage pattern.

Note that SureShell shotshell carriers cannot be installed on the right side of Rem-ington semi-auto shotguns.

To use a six- and eight-shot SureShell carrier mounted on the left side of a pump shotgun, you must use a tactical forend that does not overlap the receiver, or a factory forend that is cut down appropriately. SureFire® forends are fully compatible with our six-shot SureShell carriers, but will need about ½ inch shaved off the end to be installed with our eight-shot SureShell carriers.

The factory trigger pins are replaced by internally threaded steel pins, to which both sides of the saddle rail are securely bolted (with Intermedi-ate Length and Full Length rails, the front fasteners are thick Chicago screws). SureShell Saddle Rails feature a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny sight rail along the top, and a four-, six- or eight-shot SureShell shotshell carrier yoke on the left side of the receiver. As with the Remington SureShells, there are two mounting methods for SureShell carriers on the Benelli platforms; side mount and top mount (with integrated optics rail).

shell carrier with railWhile the Benelli M2 Tactical semi-automatic and Benelli SuperNova® pump-action shotgun feature factory-tapped rail mounting holes in the top of the receiver, the Benelli M4 and M1014 are shipped with a top Picatinny sight rail. These provided us with an opportunity to develop SureShell shotshell carrier mounting solutions for Benelli shotguns that are streamlined and very robust.

Receiver mount SureShell shotshell carriers for the Benelli M2, M4 and M1014 feature mounting brackets with integral top Picatinny sight rails. These brackets are secured to the weapon using the top mounting screw holes. The SureShell shotshell carriers are thus slung on the left side of the receiver, securely fastened at the top. No other shell carrier mounting method is as secure or looks as good. SureShell shotshell carriers for the Benelli M2 Tactical can be installed on Benelli M1 shotguns with round-top receivers by tapping the top of the shotgun receiver with #8-40 threads. Consult a gunsmith.

Extra weight on the weapon may adversely affect the reliable cycling of inertia-operated shotguns such as the Benelli M1 or M2 when used with low-recoil am-munition. The Benelli M4 is gas-operated and has no such sensitivity.

New for 2010 are our SureShell carriers for the M4 SOPMOD buttstocks (the kind that we supply with our telescoping stock kits). Available in four- and six-shell versions, these fit securely to standard M4 SOPMOD style stocks from Mesa Tactical as well as other suppliers. Though designed to be installed on the right side of the buttstock, they can be inverted and installed on the left side if necessary.

Traditional on-gun shell holder solutions require alterations to the shotgun. To make things simpler for users of our telescoping stock adapter systems, our first SureShell shotshell carriers were designed to be attached to the side mount points of our High-tube and Low-tube telescop-ing stock adapters. The push-button sling swivel mounting capability is still retained when a mounting point is used for a SureShell shotshell carrier, and a single telescoping stock adapter can accommodate multiple SureShell shotshell carriers at one time.

Barrel and Magazine claMps FOr the reMingtOn 870

Mesa Tactical Magazine and Barrel Clamps provide mounting points for Picatinny rails, weapon lights and sling attachments near the muzzle of a tactical shotgun. Both designs are CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum, Type III anodized to military specifications. Threaded at-tachment points feature HeliCoil steel thread inserts for long thread life, even after repeated mounting and removal of accessories.

The Mesa Tactical Magazine Clamp can be used to more securely retain af-termarket or factory magazine extensions, while at the same time offering flexible accessory mounting options near the shotgun muzzle. Magazine clamps are available with a push-button quick release sling swivel or a two-inch (“Stubby”) MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail that can accept standard weapon light mounts.

The Magazine Clamp can also be used to mount one inch diameter weapon lights simply by clamping one side to the shotgun barrel and the other side to the light body (recommended for use with shotguns with tall front sight posts).

picatinny rails

Mesa Tactical has long been a supplier of MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails for tactical shotguns. A Picatinny rail for the mounting of sighting optics is included with every Mesa Tactical High-tube Telescoping Stock Adapter Kit. Additional Picatinny rails are also avail-able for the mounting of optics and accessories, such as lights and lasers.

Adapter-mount rails are designed to be attached to telescoping stock adapter accessory mount points, requiring no alterations to the shotgun. These are also compatible with Mesa Tactical Barrel Clamps and Magazine clamps (see page 14).

Receiver-mount rails are made to be mounted onto the receivers of Remington, Mossberg, and Benelli shotguns with pre-drilled and tapped mounting holes. These rails can also be used with weapons that are custom drilled and tapped.

All Mesa Tactical Picatinny rails are machined from 6061-T6 aircraft qual-ity aluminum, and finished with mil-spec Type III hard anodizing. Mesa Tactical Picatinny rails include all necessary mounting hardware.

reMingtOn saddle railsMesa Tactical Saddle Rails comprise 6061-T6 aluminum brackets that wrap around the top of the shotgun receiver. The factory trigger pins are replaced by internally thread steel pins, to which both sides of the saddle rail is securely bolted (Intermediate Length and Full Length rails replace the front pins with sturdy steel Chicago Screws). The saddle rail is Type III anodized for a rugged surface finish.

Our Saddle Rail is specially contoured to allow operation of a semi-automatic bolt on the right side of the receiver, so it can be installed on Remington 1100 and Remington 11-87 semi-auto shotguns as well as Remington 870 pump shotguns. The rail is notched at the rear to accommodate Scattergun/Wilson style ghost ring sights, and extends to the front of the shotgun receiver (standard rail), 2¾ inches past

reMingtOn side-MOunt railRecently Mesa Tactical was asked by several law en-forcement agencies to produce a Picatinny rail that can be mounted on the right side of the Remington 870 and allow a weapon light to be secured behind the ejection port. This is for door breachers who need more light in tight quarters where lights near the muzzle would be unsuitable. As with all our rails, this one is machined to the MIL-STD-1913 specification from 6061-T6 aluminum, and features a mounting system similar to that of our SureShell shotshell carriers.

Standard profile Mossberg rails are for general purpose optics mounting ap-plications. Tall profile rails are only for use with Mesa Tactical High-tube telescoping stock adapters, as an alternative to adapter mount rails. Receiver mount rails allow easy access to the Mossberg safety switch.

The hardware included with the Remington and Mossberg rails are for pump action shotguns. They can be used with semi-auto versions (Remington 1100 and Remington 11-87, or Mossberg 930) by grinding the fasteners down to the appropriate lengths.

Rails for the Benelli M2 Tactical and Benelli SuperNova Tactical mount just forward of the ghost ring sights, extending to the front of the receiver. Benelli M2 Tactical rails can also be installed on round-top Benelli M1 receivers after drilling and tapping the top of the shotgun receiver with #8-40 threads. Consult a gunsmith.

Standard profile rails like the Stubby adhere to the minimum height requirement of the MIL-STD-1913 specifica-tion, and should not be used for mounting optics with the High-tube telescoping stock adapters.

Tall profile rails are designed to mount optics for use with High-tube telescop-ing stock adapters, or to mount accessories slightly away from the receiver when fastened to the telescoping stock adapter side accessory mount points. When used for optics, the elevation of the tall profile rails is similar to that of a flat top AR-15.

Many operators have requested a more robust sling mounting alternative to our push-button sling swivels. Our answer is a line of rugged steel sling loops and hook loops designed to be fastened to the mount points of our telescoping stock adapters, or to the receivers of popular shotgun models.

Sling loops are designed to accept USGI standard 1¼ inch webbing. Hook loops accommodate HK-style quick-release sling hooks. Our hook loops and sling loops are stamped 11 gauge steel, with a mil-spec manganese phosphate finish.

Our innovative Sling and Hook Loops provide a way to securely attach a tactical sling directly to the shotgun receiver. They are excellent solutions for single-point slings, or for the receiver end attachment of three-point slings.
