Important Info! Merryhill Spanish! Kindergarten through 6 th Grade Second, Third & Fourth Grade We are learning “Me gusta” and “Te gusta” along with 25+ action verbs describing our favorite things to do. Students are also writing poems using “Soy” (I am) and nouns & adjectives describing themselves. This quarter will culminate in a food unit where students will learn how to order food at a restaurant and enjoy an authentic Mexican meal. Kindergarten & 1 st Grade We are learning colors, numbers, family members, body parts, animals, and delicious foods. Also students are learning how to ask and answer basic questions in Spanish. Through storytelling in Spanish, students are learning how to respond to prompts and comprehend Spanish without the use of English. FALL 2017 Students in Kinder 1 st Grade will take home all completed Spanish work, which is graded based on completion (The grades can be found on Jupiter ed). Second through Sixth Graders have interactive Spanish notebooks they keep in their desks for class twice a week. They are allowed to take these home for further study as long as they return them to class each week. All students are getting points based on thoroughness, effort, participation, and behavior.

Merryhill Spanish! Kindergarten through 6th Grade

Second, Third & Fourth Grade We are learning “Me gusta” and “Te gusta” along with 25+ action verbs describing our favorite things to do. Students are also writing poems using “Soy” (I am) and nouns & adjectives describing themselves. This quarter will culminate in a food unit where students will learn how to order food at a restaurant and enjoy an authentic Mexican meal.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade We are learning colors, numbers, family

Fifth & Sixth Graders Students are learning to conjugate verbs such as “ser” and “comer.”

They are also writing poems using “Soy” (I am) and nouns &

adjectives describing themselves. We will focus on asking questions

about likes and dislikes (“Me gusta” and “No me gusta”) and have

conversations through role play. Students are encouraged to write

down every new word or phrase in their Spanish notebooks, which

will be graded. This quarter will culminate in a food unit where

students will learn how to order food at a restaurant and enjoy an

authentic Mexican meal.

One last thing! I am attaching a list of words and phrases Kinder – 2nd should have mastered by the end of this unit. Parents of 3rd through 6th graders: everything your child needs to be fluent in will be in their notebooks. Please support & encourage your children as they adventure in their language studies; the journey is so much more enjoyable when we put in the necessary time & effort.
