Wow, It went way to fast… Coastal Listening Tour I spent two weeks on a Coastal tour to listen to Commissioners, City Mangers and Community Stakeholders about their challenges and concerns. What we are concerned about is very similar to other communities, which helps to build bridges to finding solutions. Here is a list of what I heard, in no special order… Homelessness Transitional Shelter Homes Housing Employee Housing High Costs Forest Fires Cap & Trade taxation Wetlands Bureaucracy K-12 Education Community Colleges Workforce CTE Programs Waterway Taxes Salmon Harbor Leif4Oregon Facebook Nov 28-Dec 7 25 th Anniversary Parade For those of you who don’t know about DR Johnson Trucker Parade in Riddle each year, this is an incredible Parade honoring Timber Industry and all the companies who support our economy. Leif4Oregon Facebook - Dec 8 DTO 50 th Anniversary I was Honored to attend Douglas Timber Operators 50 th Anniversary event. Recognizing past directors and DTO’s mission, fighting for 30,000 Timber jobs that Oregon has lost. Fighting for better Forest Management, funding for Counties and Fire Resiliency. Leif4Oregon Facebook - Dec 7 th CLT Building Tour A great tour of the Carbon 12 building in Portland, all made with Timber products. This is an amazing example of how Timber products can be used to reduce Carbon in our atmosphere and create jobs for Oregon! Leif4Oregon Facebook - Dec 10 th Legislative Days Week of meetings and Committee’s. Our final meetings for my Wetlands, Business & Labor, Higher Education & Workforce Development for 2017-18 Legislature. Great Draft Legislation coming out of our Committee’s to help with Wetlands, Higher Education, Tiny Homes and Funding for Community Colleges and Universities. Leif4Oregon Facebook - Dec 10-15 Capital Performances For those of you who don’t know, The Capital has hundreds of groups and organizations who perform during the Christmas Season.
