Mrs. Latell and her Career Search class attended

several field trips this semester. The most recent

field trip was to Kent State University. According to

Ms. Latell, “The purpose of this field trip was to get

our students exposure to the college experience by

taking them on a tour of the campus to encounter

some of the things they may address in the near

future”. We asked a series of questions to students

who attended the Kent State field trip.

What did you learn from the trip?

Ross Clark- “if you get good grades you can go to a

good college”.

to give the Campbell Memorial students inspiration

to follow your dreams and accomplish them. The

guest speaker was Jack Youngblood. Jack

Youngblood, a 6-4, 247-pound All-American from the

University of Florida, excelled for 14 seasons with

the Los Angeles Rams from 1971 to 1984. As the

Aries(March21-April19): Listen to your gut

instinct today, because it will be telling you

to avoid something that you usually do

fairly often. Be prepared for other people to

be confused about your sudden hesitation.

But no matter what the stakes are, don't let

anyone push you into doing anything that

doesn't feel right today -- especially if it

involves any legal documents.

Taurus(April20-May20): Your restlessness

is fading away, and suddenly your regular

routine doesn't feel so regular, anymore!

Instead of feeling dull, it feels comfortable -

- and most importantly, stress-free. This is a

good time to finish up minor errands, pay

bills, and hunker down for a quiet night in.

Gemini(May21-June20): The nonstop

activity all around you will keep you

extremely entertained today, especially

since you are loaded with all the high

energy you need to make the most of it!

You should follow your urge to leap into the

center of the action, because today you can

sway the entire crowd, and really make a

real difference.

Cancer(June21-July22): The nonstop

activity all around you will keep you

extremely entertained today, especially

since you are loaded with all the high

energy you need to make the most of it!

You should follow your urge to leap into the

center of the action, because today you can

sway the entire crowd, and really make a

real difference.

Leo(July23-August22): Today your charms

are like magic -- downright intoxicating, but

dangerous in large quantities!

Virgo(Aug.23-Sep.22): Shopping with a

partner will be especially fun and rewarding

right now -- the two of you will be in the

same mood, have the same objectives, and,

most importantly

Libra(September23-October22): Your

ambition has been useful to you, but your

whole life's happiness does not rely on

what you do with your career

Scorpio(October23-November21): Change

is more than good for you right now -- it is

absolutely necessary!

Sagittarius(November22-December21):

You're smart enough to know that decisions

about who gets ahead in life are not always

based on fairness.

Capricorn(December22-January19): It

might feel like one of the authority figures

in your life is being especially bossy today,

but did you ever stop to think that maybe

they are pushing you to do better because

they believe in you?

Aquarius(Jan20-Feb18): You should be bold

to the point of obnoxiousness today -- no

one is going to mind. In fact, certain people

have been waiting for you to speak up and

show a bit of your true self.

Pisces(Feb19-March20): Are you following

the path of least resistance with a friend --

just doing whatever they want to do to

avoid making them mad?

Boys Basketball

By: Darius Gandy & Keyonce Brown

For the winter edition of The Memo we covered

the boys’ basketball team. We interviewed a

few players along with the head freshman and

varsity coaches. Despite posting a 0-6 record for

the 2015-2016 season thus far, the Red Devil

basketball team has shown some great

moments of success and have acquired some

much needed experience to build upon for the

duration of the season.

We had two questions for the freshman and

varsity coaches, Mr. Ryan Lucianno and Mr.

Michael Szenborn.

What are your expectations for the 2015-2016

basketball season?

Coach Luciano – “As the freshman coach I plan

to prepare the boys fundamentally so they are

ready to move up to the next level”.

Coach Szenborn –“I’m expecting our team to

work playing hard, competing, and getting some

solid team wins for our program”.

Who do you expect to be your impact players

and why?

Coach Luciano – “Louie Henderson, Demarcus

Carr and Nick Tuttle should be our leaders

because they each are good in the paint and

hustle on both ends of the floor”.

Coach Szenborn – “Ray Rue should be the most

impactful because of his experience last season

and he is ready to compete at this level”.

We also got insight from the players and to get

their take and opinion on a couple questions in

regards to the season. When we asked the team

members who they believed to be their team

leader and why, here are their responses.

Ray Rue: He’s a good teammate to go to when

you’re down. He brings our spirits up.

Jose Troncoso: He takes charge and keeps the

team together.

Laz Lebron: He leads by example.

When the team was asked what their biggest

challenge was for the season, it was unanimous.

They all feel that communication and working

as a team to overcome adversity would be their

biggest challenge.

Girls Basketball By: Arianna Runyon, Ja’Laya Weaver, Vivian Kelly & Trinity Thomas

The Lady Devils Basketball Team is led by

full time Head Coach LaRona Gore. Coach

Gore’s expectations of this season are for

the team to be competitive and improve

each game. The Lady Devils strengths are

their youth and great team speed. With a lot

of underclassman playing they are being

challenged to fill big roles and become team

leaders. We also interviewed some of the

Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball players

such as Ja’Kaya Weaver, Emoni Davenport,

Selena Lopez, and Alona Rodriquez. So far,

the basketball season for the girls has been

going great. According to the team they said

that the keys to a success are teamwork

and hard work. The unanimous team goal

seems to be competitive and win games.

Bowling

By: Kemonie Addison, D’Aliyah Whetzel,

George Iatropoulos, & Omar Garcia

The 2015-2016, bowling season began on

November 16th. They are coached by 1st

year Head Coach Tyler Allen. His favorite

part about coaching is being able to see

how each athlete’s hard work pays off. It is

nice to see the bowlers improve and correct

their technique. He expects every bowler to

improve on a fundamental aspect of their

bowling each and every week. Increasing

our individual scores and consistently

practicing will be our focus for the duration

of the season.

Their favorite part about bowling is having

fun, hanging out with their teammates, and

of course winning. Their strengths are team

commitment, work ethic, ball control, and

leadership. They love practicing with Coach

Allen and their teammates. This is Anthony

Pico’s first year on the bowling team and he

loves it so far. Shane and Jeremy agree that

bowling is a good sport and that they love

being a part of bowling team.

Attendance Challenge

Student attendance in general is vital to a

student’s success in high school as well as in the

workplace beyond their high school years.

Pupils with good attendance records benefit in

the following ways:

Success: By attending class regularly, your child

is more likely to keep up with the daily lessons

and assignments, and take quizzes and tests on

time.

Achievement: students who attend school

regularly are more likely to pass reading and

math assessments than students who don't

attend school regularly.

Opportunity: For older students, being in school

every day gives them a chance to learn more

about college and scholarship opportunities,

and to take the important exams they need to

build a successful academic record.

Being part of the school community: Just by

being present at school, your child is learning

how to be a good citizen by participating in the

school community, learning valuable social

skills, and developing a broader world view.

Knowing the correlation between good

attendance and success, Mr. Yeager and the BLT

(Building Leadership Team) have devised a

competition to motivate our CMHS students by

offering them a free dress down day to the class

that has the highest attendance each week.

This competition is called the Attendance

Challenge.

Attendance is taken daily by all homeroom

teachers to obtain a daily percentage of the

student population by grade. At the end of each

week the grade that has obtained the highest

percentage of students present throughout the

week receive a free dress down day.

The Attendance Challenge has been in effect for

4 weeks now and it has been very competitive

thus far. The winners of challenge are as

follows:

Week of Nov. 16th

9th grade won with 90.8% of their class present.

8th grade-John Childers homeroom won with

95.2%.

Week of Nov. 30th

11th grade won with 94% of their class present.

8th grade- Andrew Timko’s homeroom won with

96%.

Week of Dec. 7th

10th grade won with 93% of their class present.

8th grade- John Childers homeroom won with

96.6%.
