Multifunctional and flexible:Access floor of calcium sulfate
Office areas as well as lecture halls, sur-geries, assembly halls or other commer-cially used space require more and more flexible use. The rapid development of the modern communication technology and the frequent reconfiguration of commer-cial space require quick and easy access to the free plenum under the floor for the installation of additional equipment and supply lines. This flexibility is given by an access floor system which surface can be provided with many different floor coverings.

TheMEROaccessfloorsystemsare testedacc.toDINEN12825andcertifiedbyinde-pendantinstitutes.
Floor panel
The MERO floor panel type 6 consists offibre-reinforced calcium sulfate of the buil-ding material class A2 acc. to DIN 4102,part1andclassifiedA1acc.totheEuropeanstandardDINEN13501.Theemissiontestsarecarriedoutacc.toin-ternational requirements (system tests =panel+pedestal):• ASTM D 5116-97 (American Emission
Test). This Standard includes the GreenLabel, Hong Kong and refers to LEED(=LeadershipinEnergyandEnvironmentalDesign)requirement
• ISO16000:worldwideapprovedemissiontest
• AgBB/DIBT: product emission test. ThismethodisappliedinGermany.
The panel edges are chamfered milled andprotectedallroundbysynthetictrimagainstmechanicaldamagesandhumidity.Thesur-faceand/orbottomsideofthepanelcanbeprovidedwithgalvanized steel sheet or alu-miniumfoilbyadvancedbackingprocedure.The panel is available in different qualities,thicknessesanddimensions.MERO-TSK is using only environmental-friendly materials for their production. Thematerialcanberecycledordisposedwithoutanyproblemfortheenvironment.

Substructure
TheMEROsubstructurecanbeusedforallpaneltypes.Theprecisionsteelpedestalsareadjustableinheightandprotectedagainstcorrosionbygalvanizationandpassivation.The pedestal base plates are stably gluedto thesubfloorandcanadditionallybedo-welledonrequest.During installation pedestal heads are pro-videdwithsoundabsorbingandelectricallyconductinggasketswhichfixthepanel.Thegaskets can also be delivered with metalrivetsifhighfrequencyshieldingisrequired.The use of galvanized stringers increasestheloadbearingcapacityaswellasthelate-ralstabilityofthewholesystemsothattheMEROaccessfloorisformingaself-suppor-tingconstructionevenwithoutconnectiontothewall.Thestringerscanalsobeinstalledafterwards. To avoid frequency interferen-ces stringers can be screwed to the pe-destalhead.ThestringersareavailableasUorM typestringer for lateralstabilityorasC-type stringer for heavy duty and lateralstability.
Planning instructions
FlexibilityTo guarantee high flexibility panels withappliedfloorcoveringshouldbeused.Thisallows,e.g.toreplacepanelswithmountingunitsbystandardpanels.
Partition wallsFor an unlimited use of the access floor ca-vitypartitionwallsshouldalwaysbeinstalledon theaccessfloorsystem.Onlyfiresectionwallsorwallsbetweendifferentworkingareas
should be installed directly on the subfloor.Partition walls with fire resistance require-ments can stand on the floor system andsupplementedwithfire fasciasunder theac-cessflooronrequest.Floor coveringsTheaccessfloorsystemtype6canbepro-videdwithmanydifferentfloorcoverings.Elastic floor coverings like PVC, linoleum,rubberaswellaslaminatewhich,however,must be applied at factory. Textile floorcoveringscanbegluedorlooselylaidonthefloorpanels.Bondedfloorcoveringsmustbesuitableforaccessfloorwhichcanbetestedinourownlaboratories.Forlooselylaidcarpettileswerecommendasystemwithaluminiumorsteelsheetontopof the panel. The steel sheet provides betterprotection during the construction phaseandallowstheapplicationofmagneticfloorcoverings as MERO Magnetfloor. If looselylaidfloorcoveringtilesareusedpleasetakecare that the edge primer does not pene-trate the joints toavoidbondingof thepa-nels. Floor covering tiles should always beappliedmiddleovercrosstotheaccessfloormodule.Thegluingofcarpetrollsispossiblebyaddi-tionalmeasureswhich,however,shouldbeavoidedasitstandsagainsttheflexibilityofanaccessfloorsystem.Type 6 panels can also be provided withparquetatfactory.However,notallparquetcoveringsaresuitabledue to theirswellingbehaviour. Delivery and installation of floor coveringsMERO-TSK has standard floor coveringsavailable on stock or can provide them onshortnotice.Ifthefloorcoveringwillnotbe
appliedatfactorywerecommendtohavetheapplication done by our expert staff whichassuresbestworkmanshipandavoidsover-laps with other trades on the constructionsite. Furthermore, it may also avoid need-less costs for the contractor or the builderlateron.
Mounting unitsCutouts formountingunits likesockets,airoutletsetc.caneitherbedoneatfactoryoronjobsite.However,stepboresfortwistairoutletscanonlybedoneatfactory.
Wall connectionsTheconnectionoftheaccessfloorsystemtowallsorrisingbuildingpartsisdonebyspe-cial self-adhesive foam tape which avoidsimpact sound transmission. At rigid fixtureslikeheatingtubesetc.adistanceof120mmshouldbekeptfromthewalltoallowthein-stallation of system pedestals. They avoidcostlyandsoundtransmittingwallsupports.Thecutedgesofaccessfloorpanelsmustal-waysbesealed.
