Mercury Lines (including Lines of Clairvoyance)

I talk about the Mercury Line most often when it has turned itself into a Line of Clairvoyance or is beginning to do so. I used to think that Lines of Clairvoyance occurred in about 3% of the hands (I still think that is true, maybe less, if you just stop one hundred random persons on the street), but if I add in the hands with partial Lines of Clairvoyance, I probably read one once every twelve persons or so. Other hand readers report way more L/C’s.

The Seeker might provide a more interesting reading. Last week I read for a computer programmer who couldn’t hack it any more in his well paying Palo Alto job. Good money, he reported, but low on the life-satisfaction meter. His hands were a perfect version of a dominant Mercury Line and hardly anything else. He did agree that his inner communications were a life theme but never considered a career as an inspirational communications person. But now that I brought it up … A very nice conversation ensued, one loaded with possibilities, just the opposite of his frame of mind as he entered the session.

Double Mercury Lines rarely dominate a reading but they often back up other observations, like horizontals in the Third Eye Zone or Desire Pollution, etc.

The other Mercury Line variations are not as likely to show up , but here they are in reference form for those hands you read that are out of the ordinary.

1523-L: Dominant Mercury: The Seeker

This discordant looking hand is very consistent regarding the inner world: Mercury Line is the dominant Vertical Moon is the dominant Zone And the right hand has a Cosmic Staircase

Inward thumb and fuzzy Life Line are difficult on any hand, but Seeker types are often ungrounded in the world and these two markers are no help in this regard.

427-R: Dominant Mercury: The Seeker

427’s Mercury Line is fuzzy for part of its length, but it clears up on the way north and goes all the way to the finger – no trouble classifying 427 as The Seeker.

Inward thumb is painful to look at. Fuzzy Life Line is no help.

427 was a B+ palmistry student who told me one day that her husband decided she didn’t need to study hands anymore. Pity.

Is it two heads are better than one or too many cooks spoil the broth? The context of the rest of the hand usually points one way or the other – or not.

When the hands are dualistic, it is common for the fingerprints to be just the opposite:

10,056-R: Mercury Origin Inside Life Line

A Venus Origin Point for the Mercury Line adds a visceral flavor to inner awareness, like a person who can smell trouble or someone who can feel it in their bones when something is awry.

We all have this ability, but only a few of us, less than 1%, have it as strong as these people do. It would behoove 10,056 and his or her cousins to make good use of this ability in all phases of life.

I have met Venus Origin Mercury Line persons who became veterinarians. Do you think that is a good choice?

With his long Mercury finger, 8118 has two ways of knowing things: Sherlock examines the clues and connect the dots and the Gut Department does its thing. At best, 8118 deploys both. At worst, they clash.

2119-R: Head Line Stops Mercury Line

Inference is clear: logical thought, facts and figures, trumps the inner voice

Earth / Air Hand: Loyal Soldier (AHA Combo) often finds his or her place in life working in a large organization. Excellent taskmasters, the LS is usually more at home with paperwork than people contact.

Ruthless Mind, Square Saturn, Empty Moon + Heart Armor all add to the affect.

8031-R: Line of Clairvoyance

The Line of Clairvoyance is covered in more detail in the Gifts Chapter of your workbook. Here we see its relationship to the Mercury Line (they seem to have been drawn simultaneously with the same pen).

One way to think of the L/C is that the Moon gravity was so strong it bent the Mercury Line as it tried to move up the hand: Moon controls the inner voice. 3% or so of hands have a full L/C.

9108-R: Line of Clairvoyance

8031’s L/C goes north through the Heart Line whereas 9108 ends just south – this is the more common version of this line.

A Measurement X graces the top end (see the HSJ Chapter for more info on this) and becomes a focal point for this central life question: Is 9108 going to be able to make a living as a life coach or any other appropriate L/C profession?

LP is a good match for the L/C:

2050-R: Closet Line of Clairvoyance

This Line of Clairvoyance needs to use the bottom of the Fate Line in order to form the southern third of its horseshoe shape.

A Closet L/C raises the question: Is the owner willing to show his L/C inclinations to family, co-workers and friends?

Square Saturn and thumb suggests a conservative lifestyle, but the Head Line is independent – could go either way.

12,029-L: Closet Line of Clairvoyance

Harder to see the L/C in this busy hand but it is clearly visible once identified.

Again, a good portion of the line is serving a double function and the question of living one’s L/C in public becomes a central life question.

I guess the missing Throat Chakra has something to say on the subject.
