Our Mission
The Minority Engineering Pro-
gram established at Purdue Uni-
versity in 1974, is dedicated to
recruiting, retaining, and gradu-
ating successful engineers from
all historically underrepresented
groups. Core focus: African
American, Hispanic American,
and Native American students.
We touch the lives of thousands of K-12
students and graduated more than 2000
underrepresented engineers since 1974.!
MEP REVIEW
Outreach
SEW (Summer Engineering Work-
shops) for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
PREFACE (Pre-Freshman and co-
operative Education) for 9th and 10th
graders.
MITE (Multiethnic Introduction to
Engineering) for 11th graders.
Recruitment
PROMISE (Purdue’s Recruitment of
Multiethnic Students Interested in
Engineering) for talented 11th and
12th graders. Metric goal—apply to
Purdue.
PREVIEW offered to accepted stu-
