The newly joined members of CII need guidance, counselling and advice on how to get benefits from the CII services and engage/participate actively in CII programmes. Senior Members/Past Chairmen have volunteered to be mentors for new members. In every Zone, State and Region, new members may benefit from the guidance of senior members/past chairmen who could play the role of a mentor to the newly joined members and understand CII much better.

Ms. Shobana Kamineni has been serving as Executive Vice-Chairperson, AHEL, since July 2014 and has directed the company’s diversification to make it Asia’s foremost integrated healthcare organization. Ms. Kamineni helms the Apollo Global Projects Consultancy for the planning, design and execution of new projects. She also heads Apollo Pharmacy, India’s largest pharmacy chain serving 2,50,000 customers a day. She continues to be a Whole Time Director on the Board of Apollo Munich Health Insurance after leading its collaboration with Munich Re.

Additionally, Ms Kamineni is Vice-Chairperson of the KEI Group, a diversified business founded with her husband. She is an Independent Director on the Boards of Blue Star Limited and Hero MotoCorp, and Advisor to CISCO India’s External Board.

Passionate about wellness, Ms. Kamineni championed the NGO ‘Billion Hearts Beating’ for educating Indians about heart-health. A member of the Advisory Council of the National Cadet Corp (NCC), she has received several prestigious national awards for Entrepreneurship and Leadership.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal is Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s leading business groups. Rakesh serves as Chairman-Bharti AXA Life Insurance, Bharti AXA General Insurance and FieldFresh Foods and Board Member of Bharti Airtel and is MD, Bharti Realty Holdings.

He is a member of the Founders Circle -Brookings India and ICRIER. He is currently on the Governing Body of ICAR and a member of the National Food Processing Development Council (NFPDC).

A passionate philanthropist, Rakesh is the Co-Chairman of Bharti Foundation with leading initiatives such as Satya Bharti Program (education), Satya Bharti Abhiyan (sanitation) and Nyaya Bharti (legal aid). Mr Umesh Chowdhary is the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the Titagarh Group of Companies. Titagarh Group is headquartered at Kolkata, West Bengal and has four manufacturing plants in West Bengal, two in Northern India, one in France and one in Italy. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of CII Eastern Region.

Titagarh is the largest wagon manufacturing company in India and in France with a combined capacity of producing more than 10,000 wagons per year.

Titagarh is also engaged in manufacture of passenger coaches, heavy earth moving and mining equipment, specialized equipment for the Indian Armed forces, tea and tea tourism and has recently forayed into production of ships and manufacturing of agricultural tractors.

Mr Chowdhary has been nominated as a member of the Board of Studies of Economics under the category of ‘Representative from Industry’ – July 2015 to July 2017.

Mr Chowdhary has recently been awarded ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” (Knight of the National Order of Merit), which is one of the highest civilian order, awarded to any foreign national by the French Republic as a recognition of his outstanding and zealous contribution to the bilateral ties between India and France in the economic area.

Mr Sinha is a third generation entrepreneur who is overlooking the business of Bihar Hotels Limited (Hotel Maurya) at Patna as advisor along with Kalyanpur Cements at Kalyanpur.

Under his able leadership Hotel Maurya has achieved the status equivalent to first and only 5 Star hotel in Bihar & Jharkhand.

Kalyanpur Cements Limited (KCL), incorporated in August, 1937 is one of the oldest cement manufacturing companies in the country. KCL was incorporated as a public limited company with its registered office in the state of West Bengal and the plant at Banjari district Rohtas, Bihar. KCL commenced its cement manufacturing business in 1946 by setting up its first cement plant with a small capacity of 46000 M.T. per annum. Subsequently two plants raising the installed capacity to 4.8 lac tons per annum. KCL’s plant, at present, is the only integrated cement plant in the state of Bihar.

His company deals with products like Road Construction Machines, Road Maintenance Machines, Road Making Machines, etc.

Jamshed J irani (Dr)President, CII (1992-93)

Dr Jamshed J Irani has a doctorate in Metallurgy from the University of Sheffield, UK.

Dr Irani joined Tata Steel in 1968 as Assistant to Director (R&D), and rose to the position of Managing Director in 1992, a position he held till his retirement in July 2001.

He has received a number of awards recognizing his contributions to the company and industry.

Prominent among them are the Government of India’s inaugural National Metallurgist Award in 1997, Ernst & Young’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award, 2001’ the ‘Twelfth Willy Korf Steel Vision Award’ from World Steel Dynamics and American Metal Market, the Lifetime Achievement Award 2008 by the Ministry of Steel.

In 1997, Queen Elizabeth-II conferred on him an honorary knighthood (KBE).

In 2007 the President of India conferred on him the “Padma Bhushan” for his services to Trade and Industry in the country.

Dr. Irani is currently on the Boards of HDFC, Repro India, ECL.

He is also on the Advisory Boards of BNP Paribas Bank, PwC.

He was formerly the Chairman/Board of Directors of several Indian Corporates such as Tata Sons, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Industries, Tata Refractories, TRF, BHEL, Hindustan Zinc, BOC and many others.
