As a Family to Family teacher, NAMI has offered me the opportunity to touch the lives of so many families in a positive manner. Together we have laughed and cried as we share the struggles every

family deals with when a mental illness strikes a loved one. NAMI not only provides a safe and caring environment but has been a base for many fantastic friendships.

It’s easy to feel like you’re the only one living with whatever it is your living with. NAMI reminds me that I am not alone, and that there is a whole community of caring people who are just like me.

NAMI has provided me with opportunities and resources to feel productive and cared for in a totally non-judgmental way. My life is more full because of NAMI.

- Jaime Fried – NAMI Volunteer ____________________________________________________________________________________

NAMI provides so many resources and hope to those facing mental health problems.

IN A CRISIS

Mobile Crisis Team Numbers: Mobile Crisis will go out into the community/home and assess the situation. They may recommend community resources or, if they feel that there is a danger to self or others, they may determine that the individual needs to be Baker Acted. If that is the case, they will call the police to transport the individual to the closest Baker Act receiving hospital. Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU): 2677 NW 19th Street, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33311 954-739-8066, 954-463-0911 Calling 911: If you find that the situation has escalated to a point of crisis, call 911, describe your situation and ask for a CIT trained officer.
