Robert “Wesley” Carson Midfielder/Forward Ft Smith, Arkansas 5-8 135 Southside High School Wes Carson joins the Bears soccer program from Fort Smith Southside High School, where he was a 4-year Letterman playing for Coach Dave Marshall, scoring 47 goals and tallying 25 assists through his junior season. Carson was named Offensive Player of the Year for the 7A West region in 2012 and was chosen to the 7A West All-Star team the same year. In 2011 Carson won the MVP of Arkansas 7A West region. Carson played club soccer for the Forth Smith Express from 2004-2012, winning a state title in 2011 for Coach Ted McElvoy. Carson has been on the Arkansas ODP state team from 2008-2013, and been selected to the Region 3 team multiple times during this period. Carson currently has a 3.67 GPA and is on track to graduate as an Arkansas state Scholar. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Partners Club (which assists with Special Olympics) and is active in church activities, including the Feed the Homeless program. Carson is the son of Doug and Corinne Carson. “Wes is a player we identified very early in the recruiting process as one to keep an eye on. He is relentless with his pressure and attacking movement and will be a nightmare for opponents to deal with. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and this will serve him well in the college game.” – Head Coach Ross Duncan

Sam Cusack Defender London, England 5-10 160 Yavapai Community College Cusack joins the Bears after a successful two years with Yavapai College in Arizona, where he helped the Roughriders to a 21-2-0 record in 2012. Cusack captained the 2012 team for Coaches Mike Pantalione and Hugh Bell, who won the ACCAC championship in both 2011 and2012 with Cusack starting as a defender. Cusack earned numerous awards during his time at Yavapai, including NJCAA All-American in 2012, NSCAA All-American, NSCAA Scholar All-American, and was named to the NSCAA All West Team in both 2011 and 2012. Cusack was also named to the All Region First Team in both 2011 and 2012 and lead the Roughriders to the 2012 NJCAA Regional Championship. Cusack is the son of Patrick and Carolyne Cusack. “With Sam we’re getting a player with strong character both on and off the field. He plays with a tenacity that we look for in the recruiting process and the impression he has made as a teammate and human being has been great. As a player, we can see him contributing in a number of different areas through the back and midfield. Brandon Wilde Defender 6-0 180 Brighton High School Brandon Wilde comes to the University of Central Arkansas Men’s Soccer team from Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was a standout Center Back for Coach Matt Broadhead and the Inter FC Utah 95 Boys team. Wilde helped lead Inter to Utah State Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012. His team also won the prestigious 2012 Surf Cup Championship. Wilde also starred for Coach Russell Boyer at Brighton High School, as the Bengals were State Finalists in 2011 and 2012, and were Regional Champions from 2010-2012. Wilde has been a member of the Brighton High School Honor Roll since 2009 and is a member of the National Honor Society, the DECA club and the National Society of High School Scholars. He also volunteers at the Utah Food Bank, the Good Samaritan Program and at Wentworth Senior Living. Brandon is the son of Wendy Aerakis. “Brandon has the ideal character on and off the field that we want here at UCA. He has had excellent coaching in Utah in a system very similar to how we play here, and we look forward to him having a great career. Brandon brings a passion on the field and maturity off the field that we love. He has a chance to one day lead our back line with his ability to communicate and direct players around him.” – Head Coach Ross Duncan

Ashton Bray Defender 5-9 185 Norman North High School Ashton Bray joins the Bears’ Men’s Soccer program from Norman, Oklahoma, where he captained his Oklahoma FC 95 Boys team for 8 seasons, helping Coach Jake Kurey win State Championships in 2006, 2010 and 2012. His club team has competed in top club tournaments around the country, including the USYSA Southern Regionals in 2012 and finished tied for first in the Regional Premier League. Bray also assisted Norman North High School and Coach Geo Claros to State Championships in 2010 and 2012 and his team was named 2012 National Champions by ESPN. Bray is the son of Bill and Tanya Bray. “Ashton has played center back and outside back for his club team and will help us continue to be organized and play an attractive style of play. He is a model student in the classroom and brings intensity to the field that will raise the level of the players around him. We love the hard work he has put into his game already and it shows how successful he wants to be at the next level.” – Head Coach Ross Duncan

Logan Miller Midfielder 5-9 160 Tomball High School/Regis University Logan Miller joins the Bears as a transfer from Regis University, where he was a standout midfielder for the Rangers from 2011-2012. In 2011 Miller started in 12 games, tallying 5 goals and 5 assists and earning the 2011 Rocky Mountain Conference Freshman of the Year award. As a sophomore in 2012, Miller started in 19 games, scoring 9 goals and getting 3 assists as the Rangers made the NCAA D2 Sweet 16. Miller won numerous awards last season, including First Team All-District, First Team All Conference Tournament team, First Team Conference Academic Team, First Team All Region and Third Team NCAA D2 All American. Miller played for Coach James Woodard at Tomball High School where his team went undefeated in District Play in 2010 and 2011 and made the 2011 Texas High School soccer semi-finals. Miller won All Region and All State Awards in 2011 and was named District MVP that year. Miller also starred for Coach Scott James and the Houston Texans soccer club. Miller is the son of Dwight and Nancy Miller. Older brother Ethan Miller also played for UCA, finishing his eligibility after the 2012 season. “Logan has already been a great addition to the group. Transferring in at the start of the spring semester has allowed him to acclimate to the demands of the program and get to know his new teammates. He has made a great impression on the staff through his work rate, ability to score goals from the midfield, and vocal leadership. He will play a strong role for us going forward.” – Head Coach Ross Duncan

Dylan Brog Midfielder 5-10 165 Brighton High School Dylan Brog signed with the Bears’ Men’s Soccer program after four years at Brighton High School in Utah where he lettered all four years of his playing career. Brog captained the Bengals to the State Finals in 2011 and 2012, winning his high school region’s Most Outstanding Midfielder award. Brog played his club soccer for Coach Matt Broadhead and Inter FC 95 Boys. His Inter team won 5 of the last 8 State Cup Championships in Utah and won the 2012 San Diego Surf Cup. Brog started at holding midfield for Inter, and also played the same position for the Region IV ODP team in various events. Brog has participated in extensive community service projects including volunteering at a local children’s hospital, senior home, food bank and UAID project. “Dylan’s experience at both the club and regional level will allow him to come in and make an early impact with the team. He has a very workmanlike approach to the game that affects every game he plays in and players he is around. He is a player you can count on in any level game you are in. Off the field, Dylan will bring a great presence to the group as well through his leadership and ability to connect with teammates.” – Head Coach Ross Duncan

Jackson Gray 6-0 155 Forward Bishop McGuinness High School Jackson Gray will suit up for the University of Central Arkansas Men’s Soccer team this upcoming fall after a successful playing career for Coach Jake Kurey and the Oklahoma FC 95 Boys team. Gray played forward for the 2010 and 2012 Oklahoma State Champions. Gray also starred for the Bishop McGuinness High School team in Oklahoma City, where carries a 3.3 GPA, taking multiple Honors Classes and captaining Coach Billy Martin’s team. Gray is also a member of the Latin Club and has volunteered for the school’s annual Canned Food Drive which benefited the Oklahoma City Regional Food Bank and the Senior Service Project. Gray, from Edmond, Oklahoma, is the son of Ed Gray and Nancy Gray. “Jackson will bring a ton of energy and intensity from the forward position. He has scored some big goals in big games for Oklahoma FC, and has the kind of attitude
