4. EM703 – Master of Science in Mechanical EngineeringThe Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (EM703) is a mixed mode programme, whereby the assessment depends upon both the coursework and dissertation (research work). The programme provides outgoing bachelor students opportunity for specialisation in various fields at master level. It also providesa greater opportunity for engineers to enhance their knowledge for career advancement.

Entry Requirementsa) A bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4 (or equivalent, e.g. Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering) from UiTM or any other institution of higher learning recognized by UiTM; orb) A lower CGPA with working experience in the relevant field.

Courses OfferedThe programme is a mixed mode programme which combines both taught course and research. The programme consists of 17 credits of taught courses and 27 hours of supervised master research project. Core CoursesThe taught courses split into four core courses and two electives. The core courses are: Research Methodology Modelling and Simulation of Engineering Systems Advanced Numerical Method Project Management Elective Courses (choose any two)Students can select two electives based on their preferences from the offered courses, which cover six area of specialization, i.e.• Applied Mechanics • Mechanical Design• Advanced Manufacturing • Mechatronics

Research project (dissertation)The research project will be supervised by lecturers who are expert in their respective field and are actively involved in doing research. UiTM is one of the premier universities for the training of engineers in Malaysia. The mechanical engineering programme began in 1968 and offered the equivalent degree program. Nearly forty years on, the faculty has now included training of engineers from the diploma to the doctor of philosophy levels. Doctoral program at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was first introduced in June 1999. It is intended for graduates with an appropriate Master degree who wish to pursue research towards the award of PhD. Research supervision for the PhD students is usually led by academics and experts in the respective fields of specialization. Areas of research specialization are similar to those available for the MSc program.

1. EM950 - Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering

A belief that every individual has the ability to attain excellence through a transfer of knowledge and the assimilation of moral values so as to become professional graduates capable of developing knowledge, self, society and nation.

Entry Requirementsa) Possess Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree or equivalent form a university recognised by UiTM Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent.b) Professional experience would be an added advantage. Candidate who interested to apply for admission is required to submit a research proposal in the intended areas of study.c) Candidates have to attend an interview, which will determine their suitability in the proposed area of research.

2. EM750 - Master of Science in Mechanical EngineeringThe Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (EM750) is a research-based programme, which leads to the award of the Master of Science (MSc). This program prepares students with the necessary research skills in various field of specialization in the field of mechanical engineering. The program is designed for those who desire to be involved in research and development activities as well as a stepping stone for those who aspire to be academicians. Master of Science graduates also have the option to further their studies towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

3. EM704 - Masters in Engineering ManagementThis course is introduced in line with the need to further expose the working engineers and other professionals with related management tools. In many situations professionals are always in predicament when they are given responsibility to lead organizations or department, as they lack the managerial skills to the extent that it affects their performances.

Entry Requirementsa) Possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science from a recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 andb) A minimum three (3) years of working experience in industries or public sectors related to engineering field. c) Candidates are required to submit a resume / CV and will be invited for interview.d) Less qualified students with more than five (5) years experience may be accepted if they have significant work experiences in industry or public sector related to engineering area.
