It marks the 14th time the Friars have earned a bid into the tournament and they are the No. 2 seed in the Northeast Regional. • Against all teams in the NCAA Tournament, Providence carries a 3-4-2 record in 2017-18. Two of those losses came against the Golden Knights earlier in the year, a 4-0 loss at Clarkson on Oct. 21 and a 4-2 set back in Belfast on Nov. 25. • Clarkson is currently riding a six-game unbeaten streak against Providence, going 5-0-1 in their last half dozen contests. The last Friar win over the Golden Knights came on Oct. 8, 2004, a 4-2 home win for Providence. • Providence has appeared in four Frozen Fours in program history, the last coming in 2015 when the Friars claimed their first national championship over Hockey East rival Boston University at TD Garden in Boston, 4-3. Nate Leaman’s squad has earned each of its last three victories by one goal, all coming in the Hockey East Tournament. In total, the Friars are 10-4-0 in 2017-18 in one-goal games. • Providence owns a 14-18-0 record in the national tournament all-time. No. 13 Boston University vs. No. 3 Cornell - Sat. 3/24 at DCU Center • Boston University earns its fourth straight trip into the NCAA Tournament by way of capturing its ninth Hockey East Tournament title in program history. The four-year run is the third-longest active streak in the nation, behind Denver (11) and Providence (5). • The Terriers draw long-time rival No. 3 Cornell, the top seed in the Northeast Regional. The two teams met at Madison Square Garden earlier this year, a 4-3 win for the Big Red back on Nov. 24. • The Red Hot Hockey rivals have met twice previously in the NCAA Tournament, both times in the national title game (1967, 1972). The teams split those two decisions, the Terriers’ claiming the 1972 crown. • All-time, Cornell owns a 24-19-3 record over Boston University, although the Terriers are 7-4-2 in the last 13 outings. • Boston University is currently riding a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1), the sec- ond-longest active streak in the nation. • Sunday’s Northeast Regional final could be a rematch of the 2018 Beanpot title game as Northeastern faces off against Michigan on the other side of the regional bracket.
