There are lots of updates to share with our membership this

month! Many of these items could easily encompass a whole

page of this newsletter, so please do not hesitate to contact me

or any member of the Board of Governors with questions and

comments. First, we would like to thank you for the support you’ve shown to Club employee, Terry Baldwin. As a

membership, we have raised over $14,000 to help Terry’s

family with ongoing medical expenses. Unfortunately, at time

of writing this letter, Terry is once again in the hospital

undergoing additional treatments and testing. Your continued

thoughts, prayers, and financial contributions are appreciated.

In last month’s newsletter we indicated a strong financial

performance for the first 11 months of 2015 and were confident that December would bring a solid

finish to an incredible year. I’m pleased to tell you that forecast came to fruition, and we ended the

year with a profit of $100K compared to a budgeted profit of $28K.We’ll be sending out the quarter-

ly financials with your month-end statement, but in summary the Club excelled in F&B and golf revenues for December and enjoyed slightly better performances to budget in almost all other de-

partments.

All members are encouraged to attend our Open House on Tuesday, February 2nd anytime between

6-8pm. Additional details on anticipated capital projects will be mailed and e-mailed to each house-

hold prior to the meeting. At this Open House, renderings and details of proposed projects including:

short game practice facility, fitness center expansion (short- and long- term), parking lot resurfacing,

and pool enhancements will be available for members to review and provide feedback. For those

unable to attend, an electronic summary of the renderings and details will be made available on the

website and through e-mail distribution. It’s important that the Club continues to make enhance-

ments and updates in order to stay relevant and to attract new members.

We recently receive our report following a site visit from the USGA Greens Section. They were here

to provide a third party, unbiased opinion and grade each of our greens on the golf course and prac-

tice putting green. The report can be found on the website. Further communications on the findings

of this report will be shared in an upcoming letter from the Club.

And, there are more exciting projects happening in the very near future! Digital reader boards will

soon be replacing the current display boards. There will be one at each guard gate entrance plus one

along the driveway entrance of the Club. Additionally, we are in the testing phase with our mobile

phone app which will soon be available for members to download (for free) via android or apple for

your smart phone. Also, new lockers are arriving for the men’s locker room which will accommo-

date members on a waiting list and create more options regarding size and location of lockers. Men, stop by and visit Frank in the locker room – he’s in a great mood now that we’ve taken care of the

wait list!

Another date for you to mark on your calendar is the annual meeting- scheduled for Tuesday, March

29th at 6pm. Our Nominating Committee is in the process of interviewing potential board members

to replace those completing their terms: Malou Howland, Stephanie Harris, and Rob Schleiter. This

is also the time of year that members join and leave committees. We will continue with the format

from 2015 of asking members to complete a short application form if they are interested in serving

on a committee. Those forms will be on the website, in the admin offices, and will be available via e

-mail by contacting [email protected].

2015 was a great year at the Club, and we’re enjoying a great start to 2016! We appreciate the sup-

port of all our members and look forward to all of the exciting happenings and growth this year and

beyond.

See you at the Club,

Paul Craven

Golfing Achievements

The Annual Club Championship Series will continue again this year for the 2016 Golf Season. Early Registration: February 1st –

13th for $45 for the series. Register February 14th - 24th for $55 for the series. The following events are included in the CCS: Men’s &

Ladies’ Club Champs, Mr. & Mrs. Club Champs, Presidents Cup Singles & 2-Man Match Play Events, and Men’s & Ladies’ Senior

Club Champs. Entry fee for each individual event will be $55. Don’t miss this great value to participate in multiple events for ONE

entry fee of $45. 2016 kicks off with the Presidents Cup Men’s Singles Match Play Pre-Qualifying February 6th & 13th.

EAGLES: 12/23 - Larry Jordan recorded a very elusive Eagle on the fir st hole of the day to kick off his round. His “3” on hole #1

came after a well holed 3rd shot using a wedge. Congrats!

Hole-In-One: 1/14 - Mary McCann made her fir st ace as a r elatively new JGCC member on hole #12. She recorded her “1” to a back

pin location after what appeared to be a very good shot to a blind spot on the green using her 6-hybrid club from 138 yards.

She also had a chip-in birdie during the round and broke 80 for the first time after having shoulder surgery on both shoulders!

Congratulations!

1/21 - Kathy Burns r ecorded her “1” on hole #3 using a 3-metal wood from 124 yards. One would say she and Kay

Lemmon are good luck charms to each other. Kay witnessed this ace for Kathy and a while back Kathy witnessed Kay’s

ace during her round. Great Shot!

9-Holer News & Updates

The nine-hole golf group is more than a group of ladies playing golf! When the weather keeps us off the course, we find other fun things to

do together. Just last week we enjoyed a game of Mexican Train Dominoes. If you are interested in joining us for this fun, indoor game,

please contact Shannon Stanley for more details. In addition to our Thursday golf game, we are going to play Mexican Train

Dominoes once a month.

We don't have to go to New Orleans to get Mardi Gras beads! We only need to play golf at the first 9-hole interclub of the year held at the Palencia Golf Club on Monday, February 8th. The sign-up is on the

bulletin board in the golf shop. Click here for more details. Can’t wait to see you each Thursday at 9am for nine holes of golf!

for a 54-hole event. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Private Housing – Live Scoring –

Course Spotters – Registration. Sylvia Roberts is leading the Housing Committee if you have any

interest in hosting. Contact the professional golf staff for more details and to register as a volunteer

to make this a great event for women’s collegiate golf! The itinerary is as follows:

March 6th - 8:30am shotgun for member play/1pm Collegiate-Am (50 Members/50 Collegians)

March 7th - 36-holes of college play

JGCC is proud to announce that we are hosting the 3rd Annual UNF Lady Ospreys “Women’s Collegiate Invitational.” The event dates

are March 6th-8th with a planned Collegiate-Am event on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Ospreys are in their 4th season of golf with their

program and are excited to host their event at our beautiful facility. Coach Joanne Berglund and the UNF Athletic Director Lee Moon

are excited that the members and leaders of JGCC have embraced this event.

2/3 - Jacksonville Women’s Golf Association Interclub is hosting an event this Wednesday in a 9am shotgun start for 90+ local ladies. We have a number of our members participating, and we wish them the best of luck in representing JGCC. For those members that normally play Wednesday morning, open play will be available after 2pm. Should any Wednesday regulars have a request to play an alternative course, please contact the golf professionals at 223-6910.

2/6 & 13 - Pre-Qualifying for Presidents Cup Singles Match Play: Interested players may sign up to participate in only one of the two dates offered. A percentage of the field from each of the two pre-qualifiers will determine the match play bracket for the tournament proper. Once the field is set, the bracket will be posted and matches may begin. The semis & finals for both gross & net are set for Saturday, April 30th. This date is firm with the semi-final rounds in the morning and the finals in the afternoon. Please make sure your schedule allows you to be available to play all day if necessary on April 30th.

2/19 - Titleist Demo Day: Everyone is invited to come out to our driving range to test drive the latest in Titleist equipment. Appointments are not necessary. The equipment will be set up from 12-4pm. Give the newest Titleist hybrids and 716 AP-1 & AP– at irons a go! Don’t miss your opportunity on special demo pricing on orders taken this day only!

2/27 - Finals San-Jax Qualifying to determine the team for the upcoming 2nd Annual San-Jax Challenge Matches played March 18th-20th.

2/27 - Annual Ladies Match Play kicks off this Saturday. Good luck to all of the participants in your matches!

2/28 - Re-scheduled 2015 Parent/Child Golf Tournament: Since the event was a wash-out on November 21st, we would like to crown the new champions with a rescheduled date this Sunday afternoon. Participants from the November event will be contacted directly, and any other teams that have interest in participating are encouraged to call 223-6910 to sign up to play!

Spring Couples Golf League has been losing momentum for quite a while over the last few seasons for a variety of reasons affecting the group as a whole. As a result, the golf professionals are currently working on an alternative program for couples’ golf going forward. Please look for communications regarding suggested offerings in upcoming emails, phone calls and postings around the club. The golf pros recognize there is certainly an interest and a need for couples to have a forum to play organized golf throughout the year.

Upcoming March Events: 3/6-8 - UNF Women Ospreys Collegiate Invitational 3/12 - MGA Event 3/16 - Men’s E-9 Kickoff

3/18-20 - 2nd Annual San-Jax Challenge Cup 3/22 & 3/29 - LGA Member-Member

LGA News and Updates

The 2016 season continues with lots more fun individual and group events. Match play begins on February 27th. Remember, match es

are played outside of the regular play days; and each round must be completed by the stipulated date. The Annual Lady Golf

Invitational is Tuesday, April 26th. Save the date and start lining up your foursome. It is going to be another great event! Watch for

registration forms/invitation to go out on or about February 28th! March 1st is the annual Jack & Jill tournament! Click here for

the registration form. Please complete and return to the Pro Shop by February 10th! Remember, if you are reading this and you are a

MALE golfer, you don't have to wait to be asked to play! You can ask a lady golfer to be your "Jill" and play in this fun gol f day!

If you have questions, contact Susie Fonde, event chairperson (see flyer for contact information). The UNF College Ladies

Tournament is in March. Like last year, homes are needed to host the players; and volunteers are needed for the tournament.
