Dear Amcham Members!

In his first speech as U.S. Secretary of State, john kerry

emphasized the importance of promoting economic growth

and vitality, noting that “there could be no political stability and no

peace without renewed economic strength.” During my first year

as the U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, I have committed to strength-

ening the commercial ties between Latvia and the United States.

AmCham is the Embassy’s key partner in achieving this goal.

AmCham has the ability to shape the future of business in Lat-

via and become a force for the sustainable growth that Latvia is

striving to create. Moreover, AmCham members excel at building

strong businesses, promoting an investment environment that

benefits all businesses, and fostering the spirit of innovation.

At AmCham’s Annual General Meeting in March, I laid out five chal-

lenges: strengthening enforcement of intellectual property rights,

improving corporate governance, promoting corporate social re-

sponsibility, expanding youth development opportunities, and in-

creasing trade and investment. Even in my short time in Latvia,

I have seen AmCham take the lead on all of these issues. If we

commit to tackling these challenges together, we will definitely

succeed.

I look forward to working with you to find new and innovative ways

we can cooperate as effective and successful partners.

Best Regards,

Mark Pekala

Dear Members,

welcome to the 2013/2014 Membership Directory of the

American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia.

This year marks a very special milestone for us as we celebrate

two decades of successful work in Latvia. we have introduced

many significant changes – from a new mission and goals based on

core values to new visual identity.

Believing that increased transparency and good corporate gov-

ernance are prerequisites for attracting high value investments,

AmCham remains committed to building a better business and in-

vestment climate in Latvia. we look forward to enhancing the Lat-

via-US economic relationship, and urging the Government to imple-

ment reforms in order to increase the competitiveness of Latvia.

Among our priorities this year are the efficiency of Latvia’s court

system and insolvency process, good governance of state-owned

enterprises, and strategies in response to demographic change,

focusing especially on reforms in education and healthcare.

AmCham will continue to serve as a hub of networking and thought

leadership for our members and partners as well as for the local

and international business community in Latvia. AmCham is your

platform for an exchange of ideas, networking and connections.

Let us know if there are issues vital to your business where the

involvement of AmCham may bring value. we obtain valuable input

from members, and are eager to learn more. our future success

depends on you.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to meeting

you at our future events and learning how AmCham may better

serve your needs.

Sincerely,

Ivars Slokenbergs

President

10 years of the Campaign AMWAY ONE BY ONE ™ to improve children’s livesWithin 10 years of the campaign AMWAY ONE BY ONE™ Amway distributors and employees helped to improve the living condi-tions of 10 million disadvantaged children. Since 2003, as part of a global campaign related to the provision of assistance to children transferred a total of $ 190 million. Amway employees and entrepreneurs worked as volunteers for initiatives in support of children of 2.7 million hours.

OUR PEOPLE, OUR BUSINESSFounded in 1959 and based in Ada, Michigan, USA, Amway is today one of the world’s leading direct selling businesses, operating in more than 100 countries and territories with a total turnover of over 11 billion US Dollar.

Amway’s success is based on two primary values: the excellence of our products and the essence of entrepreneurship. As a direct selling company that thrives on the power of human relationships, we know that people are at the core of our business. That means our customers not only get the quality products they want but also the expert advice of an Amway Business Owner, face-to-face and tailored to their needs.

OUR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITYAmway provides its people with the freedom to live and work exactly the way they want The Amway business opportunity offers everyone a chance to establish their own business with very low investment by selling Amway products. Amway distributors value the flexibility of our business model. Depending on their personal goals, they can earn an additional income on a flexible schedule or build a full-time career.

Advancing Entrepreneurship Amway believes that the promise of entrepreneurship lies in the benefits of a modern work life. It’s about self-determination, direct rewards for one’s efforts, life-long learning and a healthy work-life balance. These advantages are a vital part of Amway’s philosophy. That’s also why we promote entrepreneurship beyond the boundaries of our own company.

OUR MODEL BUSINESSThe Business Owners who enjoy the flexibility and freedom Amway offers for their businesses or the employees who experience the company as an exciting, international place to work. Because we do not sell through the regular retail chain, we can put more resources into developing and improving our products and supporting our Business Owners. Our Amway Business Owners get the chance to start their own business, earn additional income and get connected by meeting new people every day.

OUR PRODUCTS FOR LIFE Amway has a portfolio of more than 450 beauty (ARTISTRY™, beautycycle™ i Satinique™), wellness (NUTRILITE™) and household (Amway HOME™, iCook™, eSpring™) products that promote well-being all around. We set high standards for each and every new product, and we constantly work to test, develop and improve our existing products. We operate 65 laboratories across the globe and own more than 1,000 patents, with more than 800 currently pending
