Taking care of yourself during difficult times

Stressful life experiences are common and although difficult people often developeffective ways to cope However when stressful events or situations persist for longperiods of time are outside of usual experiences or impact on both personal andprofessional circumstances it can leave people feeling more unsettled and out of controlthan usual

This GM Resilience Hub leaflet focuses on helping you to understand your reactions andsuggests things you can do to look after yourself

Feedback from Care Opinion I had an experience in which I ended up in the ICU at Fairfield GeneralHospital I just wanted to say the nurses and doctors saved my life They did everything in their power tosave my life when my organs were failing and I was told I wouldnrsquot survive Though I was in a coma andhad no idea what was going on through the will of God and the nurses and doctors I wouldnrsquot be heretoday There are no words or actions that could express how grateful I am and nothing I could do or saycould show my gratefulness so I hope one day I am able to give back to you The NHS do not get enoughcredit for how much they do

Feedback from Twitter I just wanted to say thank you to the staff on Covid-19 ward when I took mypregnant wife in on Tuesday The nurses and consultant were amazing We really canrsquot thank youenough

Feedback from Google Review I was brought to AampE at The Royal Oldham Hospital on Friday afternoonand the medical staff were brilliant Thanks for all your help everyone

Feedback from Care Opinion I attended for pre operation tests at Rochdale Infirmary for COVID-19bloods and an ECG Everyone I came into contact was so kind and helpful as I struggled withagoraphobia The first person I came into contact with was so lovely (COVID-19 test) and together wespoke of the triggers for the agoraphobia and with that information I was shown the best route to takewhen I came in for the operation Being prepared helps me so much in dealing with the agoraphobia Thetechnician who did the blood test and ECG showed equal empathy and directed me back to the entranceI cant really put into words how much this has helped but I do know that when I come in for my operation Iwill be so much better prepared because of the help I was given today Thank you
