JUNE 2011 The Messenger VOLUME 54 NO. 6
Music Minister Monte Martin Pastor Eric Spano Youth Pastor Jason Cockayne
Our biggest outreach event is coming this month! Mega Sports Camp (MSC) is an exciting time where we get to have fun while building meaningful relationships with families in our area. So, why MSC? Well, our desire is to reach those who are unchurched. Seeing that many elementary age children are involved in sports (just check out the ball fields right across the street), we knew we could use sports to reach families. Last year, we saw over 150 children with MOST of those being unchurched! This year, we will continue with our focus on bringing in people who are unchurched by having some “unusual” and crowd-drawing performances in which people will see guys breaking stuff and a man who can swallow swords! We pray that those who would have never stepped into a church will be drawn in to see one of these unique performances, and in turn hear the gospel and get plugged into our church. We look forward to each of you becoming involved in some way, not to see big numbers at our event, but to see lasting results of people coming to Christ and unchurched families becoming part of our church family. So, were do each of us at MPBC fit into this outreach event? We ask each member to prayerfully consider 2 things: 1) Volunteer at our event! You can view the different needs on our church bulletin board. We delegate out the many jobs to make it easy on everyone. And, we have jobs for those who are athletic, those who aren’t, and those in between! 2) Help us in our follow-up process. This is our BIGGEST focus this year. As a church, we will
take the following 3 Sunday nights (6:30pm) to make short visits to the homes of those who came to our event.
In Christ, Eric and Jason

Youth Happenings Dear Church Family,
The past month has been very exciting as our teens have been studying the lives of mission-ary heroes from our past, praying for missionary heroes of today, and learning about the spiritual needs around the world. The teens are also challenged to dig deeper on their own by decorating tables that represent each area of the world and also by bringing in native foods from each area and sharing with the teens (DON’T try the “green stuff” from India!). As mentioned in my newsletter last month, I have 2 prayers. I pray that each of our teens will become passionate about the spiritual and physical needs of the world around us and find ways to do something about it. My second pray-er is that we will once again see teens come out of our church who are called to full-time Christian service. Finally, keep your eyes open for a special service in July where we will share what we have learned to our church family!
In Christ, Jason Cockayne
