3GREETINGS

Dear industry guests,

We are pleased to welcome you at the 7th International Industry event Meeting point - Vilnius! We offer you a thrilling and extensive line-up of coming soon presentations, industry screenings, seminars, inspiring talks, discussions and networking gatherings. This is a place for you to grow.

We think and we would like you to think of Vilnius as of an international bridge between Eastern and Western film industries and cultures. Lithuania shares a common past with the post-Soviet countries, but at the same time for more than a decade, we seek a common future with the Western Europe. Therefore, Vilnius is an excellent meeting point for all of our participants from all over the Europe - to meet, to share and to interact.

Film producers, directors, film festival organisers, film marketing professionals and young filmmakers – you will all find a topic relevant to your field of work during Meeting point – Vilnius. We are glad to present our Coming soon section and Industry screenings of the works in progress from the Baltic countries and Eastern Partnership countries and they will help you to look into the near and bright future of Eastern Europe cinema.

During these three days you will not only be able to see the films but also meet people who participated in making them or even are able to grant them a future on silver screens. At the same time do not miss the opportunity to get a glimpse of our city. In between the screenings, discussions and workshops, you have a chance to stroll along Vilnius old town and feel the breeze of the upcoming spring.

We thank all the participants, partners and sponsors for staying with us over the years, and wish you all fruitful work days. And even if it’s your first time at our event, you should know that we will do our best to make sure your visit in Vilnius is not the last.

Synopsis: The town of Visaginas was created in order to service Soviet nuclear power station in the 1970s. After Lithuania declared its independence and became a part of the European Union, the country had to close the plant, which caused a slow death to the former industrial town. Today Visaginas looks like a mini USSR: the main language there is Russian, and most of its residents come from either Russia or other Soviet Republic. Although they officially are Lithuanian citizens, they don’t feel part of Lithuanian society. The city is stuck in time.

Following different characters at the crossroads of their lives, questions of social issues, language, culture and religion are raised. With “Russians” elsewhere in Europe now violently affirming their sense of identity and defending their language, how will these “Russian”- Lithuanians react, and how will the rest of Lithuania react to them? The director, herself born in Vilnius of Russian parents, undertakes a journey of discovery.

Crisis / Krizë

Synopsis: I was born Lvov, Ukraine. During Soviet times, I moved to Moscow to study. I became a Russian citizen simply because I happened to live in Moscow. By contrast, the vast majority of my family is scattered across the Ukraine: some live in my native Lvov, some in Crimea. Others are in Odessa having close ties into the Donetsk region which is now part of the separatist areas. My relatives are telling about their lives in a country with a complicated history which is now trying to move closer to Europe. This move was the decision of a large majority of Ukrainians – but has plunged the country into a bloody war and has put my family members on the different sides of barricades.

Homeward Bound / Дорога Домой

Synopsis: The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem was founded in the 13th century in Palestine to convert and cure the sick. After the defeat of the crusades the Teutonic Order settles on the frontiers of Mazovia, invited by duke Konrad II to help him secure the borders of the weak duchy.Prussian villages are burning, sacred oaks are falling to the ground. The Order creates a state perfectly managed, rich and attractive. Yearly safaris against pagan Lithuanians lure the best knights from across Europe. But the Teutonic Knights want more.Meanwhile Lithuania is baptised and joins forces with Poland in a wise alliance that becomes the cornerstone of a strong country in central Europe. The Order attacks the despised neighbour and The Great War begins. In 1410 in the Battle of Grunewald PolishLithuanian- Ruthenian forces win a spectacular victory over the Teutonic Knights and their allies but the whole war ends with a compromise. Can nothing hurt the Teutonic Order? The selfconfident Knights cannot notice the changes that surround them. Its heritage, however, will become the foundation of the horrible wars of the 20th century.

This film is about the information war and soldiers in this war. With an indepth investigation into the links between the protagonists, NGOs, media and Russia's funding, the film deconstructs the Russia propaganda machine.
