Dedication

Fred E. Rhodes June 9, 1937 - December 6, 1990

Fred E. Rhodes was born June 9, 1937, in Albemarle, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Wingate and Pfeiffer College and earned the Master of Divinity Degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He was licensed and ordained by his home church, Grace Baptist Church of Al bemarle, where he served as Sunday School and Training Union Teacher and worked with youth groups. He also served his home community through a jail ministry and a radio ministry.

During his years of pastoral ministry he served four churches. In July of 1978 he came to Polk County as pastor of Columbus Baptist Church and served in that capaci ty until July 1990. His contributions and accomplishments were numerous. He taught Seminary Extension Courses for Associated Pastors, developed and implemented the Child Development Center to serve the community, led the Church in renovation and expansion programs, and initiated many social ministries through which the Church could serve the needs of the community.

Fred Rhodes was a devoted servant of God, who believed to serve God was to serve others. He served others in many ways; he suffered with those in pain, he grieved with the bereaved, he rejoiced with those with whom he could share a joyous event, and he had compassion for and a desire to help all who had a need. He served his Lord through serving others and he loved alt those whom he served.
