Dr. Oliver Trittenwein has put forth great time and effort in transforming the Roadrunners men’s tennis program into one of the top

programs in the Southland Conference. Named men’s head coach in 1999, Trittenwein begins his ninth season in 2008.

In his eight years at the helm of the Roadrunners program, Trittenwein has led UTSA to its first two SLC Championships in school history — the 2001 regular season and 2002 SLC Tournament — and a spot in the 2002 NCAA Championships. He was named the 2001 SLC Coach of the Year in only his second season after he led the Roadrunners to a 13-11 overall record and perfect 6-0 mark in league contests. In 2002, Trittenwein’s club upset top-seed Texas-Arlington in the conference tournament to advance to the national tournament for the first time in school annals.

His career ledger stands at 91-89 and he has guided UTSA to a 30-14 record in conference matches, which translates to a winning percentage of more than 68 percent. In his first three seasons (2000-02), Trittenwein led the Roadrunners to a 14-2 mark in SLC play, which was the second-best mark in the league during that span.

Under his tutelage, Frederik Darmont earned 2000 SLC Newcomer of the Year honors and three Roadrunners — Jonas Hoglund (2003), Andre Moreira (2006) and Rodrigo Morgado (2007) — have been named the conference’s Freshman of the Year. Trittenwein has used his knowledge abroad to recruit 14 student-athletes who have earned first-team All-SLC honors and 13 others that have been named to the second team.

In Fall 2004, Trittenwein helped oversee a major renovation project that transformed the UTSA Tennis Center into one of the top facilities in the Southwest. The complex underwent a face lift that included upgraded stands, covered seating for spectators, court resurfacing, new fencing, new wind screens and coaches office improvements. It has drawn rave reviews from both opposing coaches and fans alike since its completion three years ago.

Hetori Chaves (singles), Ricardo Almeida (doubles) and Dennis Andrade (doubles) earned first-team all-conference honors following the successful season.

Trittenwein began his UTSA career an assistant coach under Becky Roberts and he was in charge of the men’s program during the 1998-99 season. One year later, he was promoted to head men’s coach.

A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, he played for the University of Texas-Pan American from 1987-91. Trittenwein earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from UTPA in 1991 and then received his master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from St. Mary’s University in 1993.

Trittenwein earned his doctorate degree in sports & exercise psychology from West Virginia in 1998. While at West Virginia, he served as the men’s assistant coach during the 1994-95 season, and the following year, he was a volunteer assistant for the Mountaineers men’s and women’s tennis programs.

He has served as a teaching pro at the Hunters Creek Tennis Club in San Antonio and also is a member of the United States Tennis Association and the United States Professional Tennis Registry as a certified professional instructor.

Erin Boisclair, who has a wealth of championship coaching and playing experience, is in her second season leading the UTSA women’s

tennis program. Boisclair was named the third women’s head coach in school history on Dec. 18, 2006.

“We’re excited to be to bring in someone of Erin’s caliber who has great playing experience and coaching skills,” UTSA Athletics Director Lynn Hickey said upon Boisclair’s hiring. “She’s played and coached at a national level, so she knows what it takes to build a competitive, winning program.”

The Roadrunners posted a 12-9 overall record and 6-5 mark in Southland Conference play in Boisclair’s first campaign at the helm. Highlights of the season included a six-match winning streak from Feb. 10-March 10 and three players earning Capital One Bank/SLC All-Academic honors. Sophomores Sandra Kukla and Karen Scida were named to the first team, while sophomore Monika Drabkova was a second-team selection.

Boisclair came to UTSA after three seasons as an assistant coach at Wisconsin. She joined the Badgers in 2003 after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in sociology.

Women’s Head Coach Erin Boisclair

Wisconsin achieved a national ranking in the top 50 during the 2004-05 season and advanced to two Big Ten Tournaments and a pair of NCAA Championships during her stay in Madison.

The Agoura Hills, Calif., native attended the Palmer Tennis Academy in Tampa, Fla., from 1994–96 and the prestigious Evert Tennis Academy from 1996-98, where she was coached by John Evert, the brother of the legendary Chris Evert. During her time at the Evert Academy, Boisclair represented the United States Tennis Association (USTA) at several worldwide junior tournaments beginning at the

age of 14, including the Australian, French and U.S. Opens, the World Youth Cup in Switzerland and the NTT in Japan. She won numerous singles and doubles titles and at one point was ranked No. 1 in the nation for girls 16 and under.

Boisclair started her collegiate career at Florida in 1998, but transferred after two seasons to Washington. She was named co-captain during her senior year and led the Huskies to a second-place finish in the Pac-10 and a sixth-place showing at the NCAA Championships. She finished her final college season having lost only one dual match and played on four teams that ranked among the top 10 nationally.
