Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship
Texas 4-H Youth Development Program Opportunity Scholarships are academic scholarships awarded each year to applicants based on their academic record, 4-H experience, and financial need (for scholarships for which it is a required criterion). The Texas 4-H Youth Development Opportunity Scholarship Program is conducted by the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation. All applications must be submitted through the applicant’s county Extension office and meet all criteria to be considered. See the links below for more information.
Information for 2018 will be posted in late-Fall 2017 at https://texas4-h.tamu.edu/?s=scholarship
Other Scholarship Opportunities for 4-H Members
Stock Show Scholarships
When you apply for a 4-H scholarship, you are automatically entered into the application process for stock shows in Texas. Stock show scholarships are based on your placing in the overall scholarship program.
The exception is Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. You will be considered for the main Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo scholarship in your general 4-H scholarship application, but Houston has other scholarships you can apply for separately. You can only receive one scholarship from Houston so we recommend that you apply for the main 4-H scholarship as well as any others you qualify for with Houston, such as the exhibitor scholarship. See a list of all scholarships available from Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
The Texas Extension Education Association Scholarship:
This scholarship is for high school seniors who have been involved in 4-H for four years, have shown leadership and personal development, plan to get a college or vocational degree, and have not passed their 19th birthday by January 1 of the current application year. Applications are submitted to your county AgriLife Extension office.
Texas Dove Hunters Association
Do you know any high school seniors in Texas who are hunters and are pursuing higher education: tech school, junior college or 4 year university? Applications available online at texasdovehunters.com.
There will be a Scholarship Workshop offered in College Station on November 18th
. See
attached Flyer for more information. A local workshop is still in the planning stages so watch
emails for more information.

RECORDBOOKS
It’s time to start keeping records for your 2017-2018 Projects. Keeping records is a great way to hold on to your memories about your incredible adventures in 4-H. Record keeping is also a great way to develop skills in time management, communication, setting goals and deadlines, money management and project evaluations. In an effort to update the current recordbook system a committee has developed an online program with a data entry system that easily allows for updates, editing and printing.
There will be three (3) levels of recordbooks based on 4-H age (junior, intermediate, and senior). Information requested for each level will progressively add on to each other. The junior & intermediate books are significantly simplified from past recordbooks. The senior level book is similar to the past record book with some minor edits.
Parts of the report form will be standardized to allow for ease of completion and judging.
Much of the data from previous recordbooks that a member may have saved on their home computer may be “cut and pasted” into the new form.
All 4-H members will begin using the new online forms or a new paper form that will be available for download from the Texas 4-H website.
Recordbooks will still be printed and turned in (in hardcopy form) to be judged by the deadline set by your local County Extension Office.
This system is available for use at: http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/recordbooks/
