Medieval Stained Glass Window For this project you will be creating a landscape utilizing a medieval stained glass style. Requirements: Must haves: Landscape artwork with a border! Foreground, middle-ground & background Stained glass “look” Shards: Organic and/or geometric shapes Black outlines around shards Compositional tools to create a successful artwork: Balance in: Color variety & contrast Shape variety & contrast Movement & Emphasis from different grounds and the focal point. Use color theory to create emphasis and contrast between elements in your landscape. Mediums must be watercolor & sharpie marker only Steps: Collect photo references. Create 5 different thumbnail layouts from your references Create a full page sketch – with a border! Break up the landscape elements into 3 different possible shard solutions Plan color in 3 different possible color solutions Re-draw your best solution on watercolor paper – lightly in pencil Add water color using your best color plan solution Create black leading with a sharpie – ruler for straight lines!!
