Community Care College’s Medical Billing and Coding program offers a challenging career for those who have a passion for the medical field! Your program will focus on the major areas of study, such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, computer software courses, and diagnostic and procedural coding to prepare you for an exciting career. You will also attain the skill set and expertise that make you irresistible to prospective healthcare employers. This program will open the door for you to capitalize on the expanding health care job market! Whether you are already working in the medical field or looking for a career change, this program will provide a way to increase your value as an employee and you will benefit from additional training to enhance your skill set!

Job OutlookEmployment opportunities for Medical Billers and Coders are on the rise, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Employment is expected to grow faster than average at a rate of 18% through the year 2016. You can expect to work in a variety of settings such as physician offices, hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory surgical centers, or go into business for yourself.

Online ProgramDiploma • 10 month program and classes begin approximately every 4 weeksDegree • 20 month program and classes begin approximately every 4 weeks• Associates Courses Online or On Campus Monday through Thursday 9:00am-11:50am

Financial Assistance • Pell Grant and Federal Student Loans are available to those who qualify • Private Lenders• Voc-Rehab, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Workforce Oklahoma and Veteran’s Education

Entrance Requirements• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)• Admittance Essay

Certification Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification. Examination is administered by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Degree ProgramStudents who wish to further their education beyond the diploma program have the option of attending CCC’s Associates of Occupational Science Degree Program. The degree program is designed to provide a foundation that will enable degree holders to seek and apply for management roles in their specialties.

Working ConditionsMedical Billers and Coders usually work in comfortable, private offices. You will interact with the co-workers as well as physicians. Most Medical Billers and Coders will work a 40 hours work week with options of part-time, evenings, or weekends. Some also have the opportunity to work from home.

Physical RequirementsPhysical requirements are traditionally of a sedentary nature. Some lifting may be required based on the job description from your employers.

HearingIf hearing impaired, you must possess reasonable alternative communication skills.

SpeechMust demonstrate ability to functionally express self orally and/or in writing.

VisionMust possess normal vision or correctable to within normal ranges.

Mental & Emotional RequirementsBecause Medical Billers and Coders deal with the public, they must be neat and well-groomed and have a courteous, pleasant manner. You must also be able to clearly communicate to co-workers. You must also respect the confidential nature of health information.
