Why I chose to create a 3D special edition double page Spread:

I chose to create a special edition double page spread as I came across this photography magazine which featured a 3D front cover and double page spread. The magazine also came with 3D glasses which enticed me to buy it as the glasses were packed and the audience wouldn't’t be able to visualise the image in 3D unless they purchased the magazine. The reason I constructed a 3D version for a music magazine is to show the use of technology proliferation in magazines, a few years ago when the initial release of 3D and the idea of 3D in films, only professional editors and software designers could construct 3D media, now, just a few years later individual such as myself can create virtually any 3D media products such as films, magazines, images and text. The use of 3D cardboard glasses is still needed however the future indicates these are going to be extinct soon. I used Photoshop to construct the 3D version which took a few hours as I was new to the process. If I were to create a new version I think it would take much less time as I know exactly what to do.

Why I chose to create a 3D special edition double page Spread: This magazine features a double page spread, the genre of this magazine is photography. So the use of 3D fits perfectly as they explained the history of 3D as a double page feature as well as heavily promote it on the front cover.

The use of a celebrity ( Kim Kardashian) promotes the entire magazine as she is on the front cover so this would entice audiences who aren't interested in photography as her audiences would be interested in reading to.

The three main images have been edited to show up as 3D, with the use of the 3D glasses the reader is immersed with a new viewing experience.

When I first looked at the page with 3D glasses it was a vastly different experience from reading a conventional magazine which made me want to distil this message to my audience – a new and exciting way of presenting content and information regardless of genre.

The use of 3D images enhances the use of technology available as a few years ago when 3D was first introduced it was rarely found anywhere with the few exceptions of cinemas. Now, there has been a release of 3D TV's, higher image 3D quality at cinemas and even 3d games consoles. This is all moving towards move immersive entertainment for audiences and institutions alike. This is the primary reason I decided to create a 3D double page spread is to demonstrate how easy it is for both audiences and institutions alike to produce such technologically advanced mediums of showing content. There has lately been a digitalisation of content such as books, magazines and news papers where someone like myself can see the news without needed to go outside; I only have to download an app.
