    RDA ILLAWARRA WELCOMES NEW CEO The Board of RDA Illawarra (RDAI) is delighted to announce the appointment ofMs Debra Murphy as its new Chief Executive Officer.

    The RDA-Illawarra CEO ’s role, is a key senior position within the organisation but mostimportantly it is also a significant position in the Illawarra community and beyond.

    Deb Murphy will work closely with the recently appointed Board to implement RDAIllawarra’s new set of priorities and objectives for our Region.

    “Deb brings a wealth of strong Local and Regional Industry & Community experience,knowledge and skills to th e CEO’s role and we are delighted to have been able to secure herfor the CEO’s role. ” said Eddy De Gabriele , RDAI Chair.

    After a comprehensive recruitment process, which attracted many high profile and highlycredentialed local and interstate applicants, Ms Murphy will take up the CEO’s role onMonday 4 th July 2016.

    “I see many synergies between Deb’s current role as IBC CEO and her new role as RDAI CEO.Deb’s experience will not only add value to the work of RDA-Illawarra but also help to bringmany of our region’s s takeholders and industry groups closer together to foster closer links

    and adopt a unified approach to tackling key issues and priorities for our Region.

    We certainly all look forward to Deb’s commencement and igniting a new era and newchapter for the RDA ”, said Eddy.

    Background

    Debra has a strong background with industry associations, health, mining and infrastructuresectors. Debra has been CEO of IBC since 2013 and during this time, the Chambersignificantly grew its membership base, a merger was delivered with the NSW Business

    Chamber, and the voice of Illawarra business was heard loud and clearly.

    Debra’s background includes senior management roles with Australian Industry Group andBHP Billiton. Debra has highly developed stakeholder engagement skills which have beenused to influence government, boards, senior management, politicians and the media. Shehas an MBA (with Merit) from the University of Wollongong.
