Question 1

Page 2: Media question 1

My magazine follows the conventions of a real music magazine as it has a mast head in top left corner and it is the biggest text on the page. Also, I have kept my colour scheme to a minimum to keep my magazine looking professional and not all over the place. I made sure that I manipulated the text to frame my image on the front page, ensuring that no text is covering her face, which is the main focus of the front page. When I was taking the image, I asked my model to look directly down the camera lens (direct address). Direct address is used to catch the reader’s attention. The person on the front cover will look down the lens so that it appears that they are looking at you wherever you move to in the room. Also, I have picked the most famous/well known artists and bands to grab my audience’s attention and make them interested in what could be inside my magazine. Also, I have used my own unique font which I have resized, stretched, and fitted perfectly to frame my image therefore it makes my font unique.

In my contents page images, I asked my models to portray attitude in their face which is a code and convention of any music magazine. I also used the code and convention of including regulars and features which shows that my magazine is a monthly magazine. I also ensured that my contents page was dominated by images and that was the first thing that my audience looked at.

For my double page spread, I used a basic layout, therefore the reader would not have too much to look at and devote their full attention to reading the article and looking at the one image. I kept my text very small and compact as it was long piece of text, I set it out into three columns and then placed my image next to it, the image took up one page and the text took up another page. I arranged my text and image in a way that would not waste space , therefore not making it look like there was any blank spaces.
