About the Founder
“In 2009, I visited Greenwich market in London and met a lady selling pure Shea
Butter from Ghana. I bought a pot of this natural butter and was amazed at how
clean and fresh it smelled. It had a fantastic effect on my excruciatingly dry skin. So
much so that the single act of buying that Shea butter led me on a path of discovery.
Carrying around a huge lump of Shea butter wasn’t very practical, so I endeavoured
to find out how I could make it more started to study herbalism and aromatherapy.
I bought every book under the sun and spent every spare minute learning as much
as I could about making creams, soaps and skincare products.
I had really been suffering with dry skin and had had eczema as a child. I hadn’t
managed to find a range of skincare products that I was happy with and I had tried
a fair few. I felt disillusioned at being ‘hoodwinked’ by advertising campaigns on the
telly and in magazines, buying a product that promised the world but didn’t deliver.
So I became determined to try and make products for my own use. My initial
creations left much to be desired, but I carried on, creating new products, trialling
them on myself and then letting friends and family try them. My investigation and
research quickly led me to the decision that I wanted the products to be as natural
as possible. Prior to this, I hadn’t given a moment’s thought as to what I was putting
on my skin. I found a lot of information saying that the ingredients used in cosmetics
were extremely controversial and included potential carcinogens (cancer causing
chemicals), chemicals that could alter the level of hormones in the body and other
similarly alarming things!
After a few years of creating the products and receiving amazing feedback from
friends and family, I began to realise that other women were experiencing issues with
their skincare and I began to sell them, setting up Eve of St. Agnes in 2012. In 2013
the best-selling product, the Nourishing Cleansing Cream, won a gold award for best
rinse-off product and received truly outstanding feedback, with many users
describing it ‘as the best cleanser they had ever used’. Along with many women, the
issue of self-confidence has been an important one throughout my life so far.
Unfortunately, we live in a society where appearances do have an impact, so we all
want to look the best we can and make the most of the attributes that all of us have.
If a woman feels that her skin looks healthy, fresh and glowing and she receives
P a g e | 5
compliments about it, then she will instantly feel more confident about herself. In
such a competitive market, the driving force for me to continue to grow Eve of St.
Agnes into a worldwide, trusted brand, is that so many women who have used my
products contact me to say what a difference they have made to their skin and
therefore improved their confidence.
Many women say they receive compliments on how fresh and glowing their skin
looks and even dare to go make-up free! That for me is the key driving force behind
the company, enabling women to achieve healthy glowing skin, using natural
products that make them feel great. I chose not to include artificial fragrances as
these are merely empty chemicals that can cause skin irritation. Instead, each product
contains a combination or pure essential
oils that not only delivers skin enhancing
benefits, but gives a wonderful, uplifting
aroma that helps to give a feeling of
wellbeing.
Each formula is developed by myself and
is made to counter the problems that
women face with their skin on an
everyday basis. For example, many
women use a cleanser that is too harsh
for their skin and end up trying to replace
the moisture that has been lost. A
problem that I had experienced for many
years, was the act of cleansing my face
and removing make-up! I tried so many
products that left me with red, stinging
eyes and even eczema. Our Nourishing
Cleansing Cream has provided a fantastic, gentle, yet effective way to cleanse the
skin and remove make-up without using harsh soaps or detergents.
One of the reasons why my products are so well received by customers is that they
have been created by a woman who has experienced the same problems that they
have experienced and who is absolutely passionate about providing a solution to
these problems. Most cosmetics and skincare products are created with profit being
the foremost factor and performance second. Many formulators will never even use
the products that they have created! Creating the best products I possibly can for
Eve of St. Agnes and my continued studies in Cosmetic Science is a passion that has
become my vocation” Emma Heywood

What’s in a name?
The name of Eve of St Agnes is inspired by one of England’s finest Romantic poets,
John Keats and his poem “The Eve of St Agnes”, which is one of his finest poems
that he wrote in 1819.
Keats based his poem on the superstitions surrounding the certain rites that were
performed on the Eve of St. Agnes (20th January) by young maidens, who by
performing these rituals, were promised a glimpse of their future husband in their
dreams!
St. Agnes is the Patron Saint of purity and virginity, the inspiration behind our
natural formulas. In the poem it refers to many instances of stimulating the senses
to create sensual imagery which we try to reflect in our products. So we aim to appeal
to all of the senses with the appearance of the packaging, the exotic aromas of the
essential oils and the feel of the product on the skin.
The main verse that we use on our website and in any marketing:
“They told her how, upon St. Agnes’ Eve,
Young virgins might have visions of delight,
And soft adorings from their loves receive
Upon the honey’d middle of the night,
If ceremonies due they did aright;
As, supperless to bed they must retire,
And couch supine their beauties, lily white;
Nor look behind, nor sideways, but require
Of Heaven with upward eyes for all that they desire”
Our brand proposition, ‘Beauty is truth’ is also taken from another Keats’ poem,
‘Ode on a Grecian Urn.’ There are many interpretations of this quotation, but we
believe it truly embodies what our company stands for. Firstly, we will always be
honest about our ingredients and tell our customers exactly what is in each and every
one of our products. Secondly, we want everyone to feel beautiful in their own skin
P a g e | 7
and realise that there is no need to expose it to synthetic (and often harmful)
products. It is our aim to uncover the truth about the beauty industry and answer
some of the common questions people have about natural products and
controversial chemicals.
So we feel that the imagery and romance of the poem is key to any ongoing
marketing opportunities. They reflect a truly British, romantic era, where
many women use similar rituals in their everyday beauty routine. This needs
to come out in any marketing or PR that we do as it is a great way to introduce
a classic British poem, into the modern world and reflects the company ethos.

Award winning Products
Our Nourishing Cleansing Cream won Gold for its category in the 2013 FreeFrom
Skin care awards. We feel this is a fantastic achievement from someone who only
started creating these products a few years ago.
About the Awards:
The FreeFrom Skin Care Awards are designed to celebrate and encourage skincare
and cosmetics manufacturers who create products that exclude many of the
allergens, chemicals, fragrances and artificial additives associated with skin and
health concerns, ethical and environmental concerns, and which may appeal to those
looking for purer or more natural cosmetics and products for their skin, including
those with problem skin conditions.
Entries are initially assessed by panels of independent skincare and natural health
experts who choose products to commend, and products to shortlist for an award
of excellence. These shortlisted products then undergo a rigorous month of testing
by experienced Beauty Bible testers before the best in each category are selected as
gold, silver and bronze winners in the final judging stage.
Products shortlisted at Stage 2 then go forward for a month's in-depth testing of
their qualities and efficacy during May by a select, ten-strong panel of experienced
Beauty Bible testers, all of whom either have sensitive/problem skins, specific
allergies/intolerances, or are simply passionate about organic and/or natural
skincare. Once the testing period is over, they will fill in detailed questionnaires on
each of the products that they test, and return them to the judging panel.
So to win Gold for the product category, and be a runner up in best product
overall, we feel is an incredible achievement.

The Penny Rose Lifestyle Blog: International Beauty Report:
English Beauty
“As Murphy would predict, I recently ran out of all my facial care products
simultaneously. I debated whether to purchase the same humdrum products that I
had previously used—ones that had done nothing extraordinary or even noticeable
to my face, but ones that I was simply used to. In the midst of this skincare
conundrum, I became introduced to a new brand that had never before crossed my
path. It’s called Eve of St. Agnes, and it is a handcrafted skincare line based out of
England.
Now, I’ve always had a slight fascination with the UK (I just became engaged to an
Englishman after all!) and decided to give this all-natural skin care line a shot. It
was love at first try. The Nourishing Cleansing Cream is buttery soft, smells of
P a g e | 13
zesty essential orange oil and also contains honey and cocoa butter. The detergent
and soap free product comes with a linen cloth that is meant to be used as a gentle
emulsifier and skin smoother. The product claims to remove make up and deeply
cleanse the skin in one silky step, and it doesn’t disappoint.
In addition to the loveliness of the Nourishing Cleansing Cream, I have become a
fan of the Hydrating Facial Silk, which is the most hydrating yet least thick and
sticky moisturizer I’ve ever used. It is easily absorbed and doesn’t make my skin
feel overly heavy or coated. It too has a lovely citrus scent that has become my new
obsession.
As well as the products being effective and handmade, the packaging is as adorable
as can be, and affects a black and white Alice in Wonderland feeling—think quaint
doodles of owls, trumpets and bamboo shoots—on each product. Not only does it
make facial care fun, Eve of St. Agnes products are good for the environment and
they actually work. Way to go, jolly old England!”

Eve of St Agnes - Hydrating Facial Silk Every so often the arrival of an email in my inbox grabs my attention instantly and
that was definitely the case with Eve of St Agnes. A company which was founded
in 2011, Emma Heywood had a vision to create a skincare company that would
give the finest quality, all- natural skincare products, with a commitment to
sourcing the best natural and organic ingredients from Fairtrade and community
projects from around the globe. Having suffered from Eczema and dry skin and
failing to find a skincare product which delivered on their promise, she decided to
create her own - Eve of St Agnes.
I was very kindly sent the Hydrating Facial Silk which was so very beautifully wrapped and it offers the following description on the back of the very beautiful box:
P a g e | 14
"Our customers agree that silk is the perfect word to describe our moisturising cream. Can be used as a day or night cream and is perfect for normal, dry and mature skin types. Bursting with skin hydrating ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, (sometimes referred to as the fountain of youth!), our Facial Silk leaves skin feeling nourished, moisturised, smooth and incredibly soft"
Inside the cardboard box is a glass jar which replicates the beautifulness of the box and as soon as you remove the lid, the scent which hits you can only be described as stunning. It is packed full of goodness for your skin and includes ingredients such as Cocoa Butter, Macadamia Seed Oil, Thistle Oil, Safflower Seed Oil not to mention Hyaluronic Acid, Frangipani, Champaca and Sweet Orange Oil to name just a few (the rest can be found listed online and on the product). Not only is it 99% natural it is:
Handmade in Britain Free from artificial colours and fragrances Not tested on animals Free from Parabens Free from Alcohol
The cream itself is exactly as described, like silk. To use to simply apply it to your face and neck directly after cleansing, this cream can be used in the morning and night. It is so soft and smooth to the touch and as you apply it to your skin, the feeling is just so lovely, it glides on and instantly absorbs itself leaving no trace behind other than the lovely orangey scent that stays with you for a good few hours after application.
It also lives up to its claims of leaving your skin feeling nourished, moisturised, smooth and incredibly soft and given that I have been using this cream for the last month, I was told at a recent blogger event where I had my skin scanned to look for sun damage that my skin was in incredible condition and the most moisturised she had seen all day.
I really am excited about what else Eve of St Agnes has to offer, I absolutely love this cream (if you haven't guessed) and cannot wait to see where Emma and Eve of St Agnes go, definitely one to look out for and try!”

Woman’s World Magazine.
Review of Eve of St. Agnes' Hydrating Body Cream.
Mostly everyone has a skincare condition which they are unhappy with and which for some actively causes issues; dry and flaky skin, eczema, an oily t-zone and rashes are just a few examples of problems women battle with on an everyday basis. Walking into the health and beauty aisle at your local supermarket or chemist looking for a cure can be a daunting task. Faced with endless rows of options claiming to solve all sorts of skin issues you'll often find that when scrutinising the ingredients, the products on the shelves will probably do more harm than good. That is where natural skincare brand Eve of St. Agnes comes in. Emma Heywood founded the company in 2011 with the vision to create a skincare company that would produce all-natural skincare products created from the best natural and organic ingredients from Fairtrade and community projects around the world. Suffering from skincare dilemmas herself, she wanted to ensure her products would not be created from generic formulas conceived clinically by people in white coats, but instead that they evolved from the heart. And that is exactly what she has achieved. Before I'd even had a chance to see if the cream was a right fit for me (it was), I had already fallen head over heels in love with the adorable owl and rose drawings on the front of the box which presented the product as a charming and luxurious treat. And as soon as I opened the large jar it was contained in, I fell in love with the beautiful gentle floral fragrance within as well. Besides the deliciously enticing scent, which lingered just long enough to be alluring, but not too long to become overbearing, the cream does exactly what it says on the tin, or box in this case. It's a wonderfully rich product which absorbed quickly when applied, not leaving any white or shiny marks like so many other lotions and creams do. As soon as I used the hydrating body cream I felt the nourishing qualities working their magic, ensuring that I would no longer be walking around with a dry and tight skin. I would also like to take a moment to admire the stunningly captivating packaging. The beautifully drawn images of flora and fauna radiate romanticism while simultaneously emphasizing the natural qualities and ethics of the brand. I am someone who frequently gushes over something simply because it looks pretty, I admit that I even sometimes judge a book by its cover, so the gorgeous packaging

Definitely added to the appeal of the product. Eve of St. Agnes was inspired by the poems of John Keats and with its romantic and quintessentially British look and floral scent, this name couldn't be more befitting.

The Undercover Princess
Review: Eve of St. Agnes Hydrating Facial Silk My quest for the perfect everyday
natural moisturiser complete A while ago I have decided to switch to natural
skincare. Although it could be said that I am a trend victim, my little decision was
not based on a popular fad. I simply find artificial fragrances and ingredients really
repellent (ok, except Chanel – Chanel attracts me in all its forms without the term
“organic”). I do not have a very complex skincare routine – a good makeup
remover, a gentle exfoliator, a moisturiser, and eye cream is all I need – but I do
have quite a selective taste. That is why I was really happy to discover a British
brand called Eve of St. Agnes, and even happier when they contacted me to test
one of their products out!
I was sent their hydrating cream. When it arrived in a couple of days, I had to drop
everything, and run to the post office in my utter excitement to open the most
adorably packaged glass jar of handmade moisturiser. When I first unscrewed the
jar, I was quite surprised by the strong citrusy smell, but I quickly got used to it and
now find it very pleasant. Reading through the ingredient list, it was really nice to
understand it for once (despite the fact I have spent most of my chemistry classes
sketching dresses and texting).
This cream is packed with some of the most indulgent oils – macadamia nut,
yellow jade orchid tree, blood orange and ylang-ylang among others – as well as
cocoa butter, and both hyaluronic and salicylic acid. It can be used morning and
night, and is appropriate for normal to dry skin, and also mature skin. I only use it
at night, and I adore it. Besides deeply hydrating my skin (which is slightly dry on
my cheeks, and quite sensitive), the cream feels tightening, and leaves a pleasant
feeling of freshness. I am smitten with this product. I mean – how could I not love
a face cream by a brand that is named after a Keats' poem (poetry junkie detected)?
P a g e | 17
But it is an all-around amazing product, and I will most definitely repurchase it
when I empty my 50 ml jar. Have you ever tried anything from Eve of St. Agnes?

“I may be precious with my skin care products. But I always manage to fit in my
1-2 time a week exfoliating routine. It is so important to keep pores unblocked,
keeping those spots and blemishes at bay. There is something so satisfying about
a grainy texture of a scrub, which reveals smooth skin instantly, after
rinsing. Which exfoliator do you use? I have been testing the Bamboo exfoliating
polish from British natural skincare brand Eve of St Agnes.
How it works
The tiny bamboo particles gently slough away dead skin cells and help to
unblock pores. It contains Rosehip Oil and Shea Butter. The scent of floral,
citrusy aromas of Bergamot, Rose Geranium, Sweet Orange and Champaca
Flower Essential oils is unobtrusive. It is a scent I could take or leave, but my
husband said it smelled lovely.
For best results
Apply to damp skin and gently massage in circular directions, avoiding the eye
area. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use 1 to 2 times a week.. Try not to
be over vigorous this may cause irritation, the fine granules in the cream are
doing the hard work so be firm but gentle. The polish is suitable for all skin
types.
What I think
I am happy with the results my skin is definitely smoother, after two weeks of
use, although for me left my skin a little too dry. So overall would give an 8/10
The polish is priced 50ml for £18. The brand’s founder, Emma Heywood,
announced the addition of new essential oils to its Refining Bamboo Exfoliating
Polish and Facial Silk, along with the addition of a new natural 3 in 1 cleansing
water set to launch this year”.

"The Eve of St Agnes cleanser is just wonderful, I love that it's a cream and mostly that it can be used on the eyes - what's more it smells divine too." Judy Naaké St. Tropez Fake Tan Entrepreneur. “I just wanted to say, thank you so much for the lovely products you sent me, I used them straight away and I have to say my skin feels and looks lovely! I haven't broke out since I've been using them too! The cleanser is to die for and it smells delicious! Loving the exfoliator and hydration cream too!”
Harriet Coleman, Model, London.
“I have a post facial glow after using the beautiful Eve of St. Agnes products. I love these products!” Charlotte Quita Jones, British Actress and model.
"I have the worst combination of skin. It is super dry and flaky, ridiculously sensitive and prone to awful flare-ups. I have probably tried most cleansers and moisturisers on the market, with no success. Until now. The nourishing cleansing cream smells like heaven, doesn't irritate my skin, takes every scrap of make-up off first go, and leaves my skin feeling soft, rather than stripped. While the facial silk smells like a Sicilian orange grove, a little goes a long way and my skin practically sighs with gratitude. Seriously, I have never been able to use fragranced products before, because my skin is just too sensitive, but these deliciously scented creams don't annoy it in the least. My problem skin is massively improved, less dry, less break-outs, more even, and I actually look forward to taking my make-up off at night because the pair are such a joy to use. Huge fan. I've been telling all my friends." Catherine Gray, London
‘I have incredible sensitive skin which occasionally breaks out into a rosacea rash if
it doesn’t like a product. This cleanser works brilliantly and leaves my skin feeling
soft and moisturised, with no rosacea reaction. I’ll definitely be using it again.
‘H Fawbert.
‘I suffer from extremely sensitive skin and tried this cleanser during a particularly
sensitive phase. The added comfort knowing that my product uses natural
ingredients, so won’t aggravate my delicate skin, which is more than can be said of
many of the luxury brands out there. Fantastic product – would definitely
recommend. ‘J Oldham

‘The hot cloth cleanser has worked miracles on my son’s skin and cleared up his
sore, irritated skin, thank you, will be recommending you.’ L Cutting.
‘This balm has really helped to clear up the red, dry patches of eczema on my
son’s skin, it was noticeable even after the first application.’ K. Trees.
‘I love the scent of this balm, I use it all over my face and body as it leaves my skin
incredibly soft, I even use it for massage, as it’s just the right consistency, yet it
sinks into the skin afterwards.’ E Lewandowska.
‘This is a lovely range, the face cream is especially good. The texture is just right,
and not at all greasy and the smell is divine! Another plus is that a little goes a long
way making it excellent value for money.’ G Richardson.
‘Absolutely love this product. Purchased it last month and have been using it every
day since then. Using it to remove eye make-up and cleanse my face, my skin is
now soft, more supple and fresh looking, highly recommend this!’ Sylv.
‘I have just received my second pot of this fabulous cleanser. I have menopausal
skin which doesn’t know what it is – sometimes dry, sometimes oily, sometimes
red and flaky. Since using this product on my face, my skin feels wonderful – it’s
soft and supple, the red patches have gone and I haven’t hidden under foundation
for ages. I can’t recommend it enough – thank you!’ Sara,
‘Fabulous, subtle scent and the cream sinks into the skin very easily.’ Marjorie, J. .
“I just wanted to say that after, reading the information on your website and on other internet sources as well as the labels on most of my cosmetics (shocking), I will definitely be purchasing more of your lovely products and doing my research. I bought the ex-foliating cream and have been using it since Sunday and I am really seeing the difference, my skin is much less greasy and feels lots softer. So THANK YOU! For helping open my eyes to what I was putting on my body as well as in it. Here's to reducing our personal toxic load!! – Jane,
‘A friend had sung the virtues of your product and I was keen to try it, as a
diehard Clarions user I was sceptical, but I loved it!’ – Nicola R,
‘I just wanted to let you know that I am in love with your new Hydrating facial Silk! The smell is incredible - very addictive. It feels fabulous to put on- rich & decadent yet not as heavy as the organic cream so I'm using it as a day cream. I've had comments that my skin looks great & I feel really glowing. I would ALMOST venture out without makeup on I feel that my skin looks that good! I've certainly reduced the makeup & haven't needed to put a foundation base on. The cream is quite matt so I could probably get away without powder too.’- N Peatfield,
