Independent pharmacies represent 37 percent of all retail pharmacies in the U.S. That’s an $81.4 billion market!
Independent pharmacies are privately owned retail pharmacies. The
majority of the 22,478 independent pharmacies in the U.S. are single-
store operations, but a good portion of owners—26 percent—have two
or more pharmacies. As privately owned small businesses, independent
pharmacies vary widely in their services and offerings. Most provide
traditional prescription dispensing along with other health care services,
such as vaccines and immunizations, diabetes counseling, high blood
pressure screenings, medication therapy management and more.
Independent pharmacies can also specialize in certain areas, such
as long term care services, assisted living services and compounding
services, among others.
Independent retail pharmacies often serve rural communities. Thirty-
nine percent of independent pharmacies are located in an area with a
population between 10,000 and 50,000. In rural areas, the independent
pharmacy is often the only access point for consumers to receive
immediate health advice and to obtain the medications, over-the-counter
products and health supplies they need. Patients across the U.S. value
independent pharmacists for their services. For more than a decade,
independent pharmacists have ranked in the top three slots as the most
trusted health care professionals in the nation.

A pharmacist will meet with you and ask a few short questions, then synchronize your refills to one day each month.

3. VERIFYYour physician will be contacted regarding any questions, prior authorizations, refill requests, etc., before you run out of medication.
4. PICK-UPYou can choose to receive a personal phone call, text message, e-mail, or automated call when all of your medications are ready for pick-up.
