Dear Member,
The month gone by was a deluge of fun and festive events
that kept everyone engaged and entertained. Despite the
challenging smog that enveloped the city skies, the club saw
enthusiastic participation. We flagged off the month with
the most awaited Sunday Brunches along with golf
tournaments. The dip in the temperature served well to swell
up the crowds at the brunches. The Sunday Brunches with a
wide variety of cuisine along with special deals on the drinks,
have been received well. The Lufthansa Junior Tournament
triggered a big wave of excitement and motivation amongst
the budding Golfers as also the exciting prizes on offer. The
eagerly awaited Parent-Child Tournament was as usual
oversubscribed leaving us no room to accommodate a few
golfers. This year’s tournament season concluded with “The
Hero Christmas Cup” with over 50 golfers contesting for the
ace position. Congratulations to all winners and a big Thank
You to our sponsors Hero, Lufthansa, BMW and Callaway.
Till date, the fogless days have served as a bonanza for avid
golfers pushing up the average rounds to nearly 200 per day.
Inspite of the rise in footfalls, our course superintendent
Shaun and his strict maintenance practices have paid off well
to keep the course in pristine condition. As the members
shared “the course is playing beautifully.
The ambient weather and our Club ambience were just
perfect for social entertainment. Members hosted many
parties and functions throughout the month. Last, but not
the least, our marquee event “The Christmas Carnival” was,
as usual, a big hit. The marketing team upped the ante to
stage a memorable carnival yet again.
The month culminated with a rocking New Year's party,
finally bidding adieu to 2017 and welcoming 2018. Look
forward to enjoy and celebrate Lohri at the club along with
the Sunday Brunch at the Garden Café.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!
See you at the Club!

The program has selected 10 junior boys and girls to undergo golf, fitness training and tournament preparation. The program further provides the juniors with all necessary resources and facilities to compete and excel at the international level. The Academy has got on board Jonathan Mannie, a highly acclaimed teaching professional based in Austria, to help structure and assess the progress at regular intervals. Fitness tip of the month
A lot of time a majority of athletes, both amateur and professional are not aware of the proper way to warm up prior to practice. Properly warming up eliminates the risk of injuries or sprains that may happen during the game and also helps in improving the overall performance. Start with an activity that will raise your core temperature and make your muscles more elastic for the game. Warming up in motion improves body awareness, challenges your balance and coordination skills, along with enhancing muscular performance and power. A proper golf specific warm up is crucial to building mobility and stability, activating muscles that you will use, and help you gear up for the powerful and complex movements of the golf swing.
Anjali will be conducting an ‘Open house' workout session for interested members and students on Sundays 14th and 27th, from 4 to 5pm, at the Academy. Please call the Academy to book your slot for a free consultation.

This month, let's have a look at the next parameter that a Launch Monitor tells us and that is Height. Height is the maximum height or apex of a shot and is measured in feet, yards or metres. It is the distance between the ground and the golf ball at the time when the golf ball is at its highest point in its flight and starts its journey down. The height of a shot will vary considerably depending on the combination of ball speed, launch angle and spin rate. Variations in ball speed or launch angle will have the largest effect on height. Also, height is highly
correlated to the landing angle of a shot.Depending on the golfer’s ball speed, a certain height must be achieved in order to create optimal carry and landing angle. For example, an LPGA Tour player with a 6-iron ball speed of 109 mph is looking to achieve a height of 84 feet. This combination will produce a trajectory optimized for carry and landing angle. However, a PGA TOUR player with a 6-iron ball speed of 130 mph is attempting to attain a height of 102 feet. This combination is optimal for the PGA TOUR player with a higher ball speed.Due to differences in club design between a fairway wood, hybrid, and iron, an optimally fit set of golf clubs will not necessarily apex at the same height throughout all clubs in the bag. The biggest factor here would be the placement of the center of gravity which would be lower in hybrids and fairway woods as compared to irons and hence would give the golf ball a better height. The added speed in the hybrids and fairway woods would also be a factor contributing to height. The above mentioned factors would determine the height that a golf ball would achieve in its flight.

THE EARLY BIRD DIETThe Journal of Obesity reports that early risers eat fewer calories, less sugar and more protein than the night owls. The human body runs on an internal clock and this clock ticks in every cell of the human body influencing your metabolism as well as sleep habits. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that overweight people carried the PLIN 1 gene associated with obesity. The group carrying this gene lost more weight when they ate breakfast and lunch earlier in the
day. It was also observed that people made healthy choices easily in the morning when the brain is fresh and will-power is stronger. So try these smart strategies to flip your fat switch.
