Two years M.Ed. Course of University of Lucknow is conducted by its Faculty of Education. In addition to M.Ed., this Faculty runs a two years B.Ed. and two years M.A. (Education) course. Faculty is equipped with modern facilities and infrastructure of research (for Ph.D. & D.Litt.) in Education. The teachers of the Faculty are known for conducting and supervising research on various aspects of Primary, Secondary, Higher and Teacher Education. The University Grants Commission has included the Department of Education in its Special Assistance Programme (SAP) for the thrust areas: 'Indian Philosophy' and 'Elementary Education'. The Faculty is gaining recognition as resource center in these areas and conducts national level seminars, workshops and colloquia. This Faculty, at times, conducts orientation programmes and refresher courses for elementary and secondary teacher educators, secondary teachers and school principals in various concepts and practices of Education. Due to these achievements, the Faculty has raised itself to a special status in Lucknow University and has also come up in the frontline of the Faculties of Education and Teachers Education Institutes of North India.

M.Ed. programme is devoted to preparation of Teacher Educators. Duration of this course is two academic sessions divided into four semesters of four and a half months each. Admission to this course is done on the basis of M.Ed. Admission Test conducted by the university in accordance with the orders of Govt. of U.P., Lucknow University statutes and regulations of NCTE.

M.Ed. is a full time, professional, highly theoretical and research oriented course involving a variety of activities aimed at preparation of teacher educators. Students are expected to put in very hard work. They often remain busy throughout the session. Therefore, M.Ed. is not allowed as a part time course and M.Ed. students are not allowed to do any other course or job with this programme. Students are required to put in at least 75% of attendance.

All M.Ed. students are required to go for educational excursion and stay at any place, University/Institute or city of educational importance, generally outside U.P. for about 10 days. This study tour is an essential part of M.Ed. and counts for the final M.Ed. Examination result. Individuals who are not fit for this Educational Tour or due to some reason are unable to go on tour and stay outside are advised not to apply for admission to M.Ed.

Interview will be to assess the power of expression, subject knowledge, teaching ability and personality of the candidate. This will be for a maximum of 10 marks.

Final merit for admission to M.Ed. will be prepared out of a maximum 310 marks. This will be determined by adding the marks obtained in the written test (250 marks), academic index weightage (50 marks) and interview (10 marks).

• Caste certificate

o The number of caste certificate issued by the competent authority will have to be entered for availing the benefit of reservation for OBC, SC and ST applicants.

o For OBC applicants this certificate should be issued after July 1, 2014 and be valid on the day of verification. Validity of these certificates will be verified from the Government website.

o The scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and other backward class candidates originally belonging to Uttar Pradesh will be given the benefit of reservation. Scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward class candidates of other states will be treated as general.

• Income Certificate

o Applicants will have to enter the number of these certificates at the time of filling of the form.

o All certificates will be verified through the Government website.




o Certificates whose details are not available on this website will not be entertained.

o The applicants who do not have a valid income certificate issued by competent authority will not be given benefit of zero fees at the time of admission.

FORM FILLING

• During the form filling process the applicant can make the entries and save the information.

• If the applicant is unable to fill the form in one sitting or somehow the process is interrupted there is no need to register again. They can login using the credentials sent on their mobile numbers and continue the process.

• Applicants are advised to check all the data they have entered before submitting the application fee. If there is some error they can edit these or start the entire process again. Once they have submitted the application fee the data submitted in the registration page cannot be edited under any circumstances.

Data Editing

• Restricted data can be edited by the candidate by logging in to the admission website using the credentials sent to their email and registered mobile number. In case the candidate has missed out on the login details they can regenerate their password by clicking on the forgot password link and entering their registration number. The new login details would be sent to their registered mobile number. The data submitted in the registration page and the opted category cannot be edited under any circumstances.
