MECHANICS FOR PC SERIAL UPGRADING OF VISTAR (2010PK) IRD

DEALER QUALIFICATION:1. The Dealer’s office can be easily located by the subscribers.2. Dealer must have the necessary equipment/materials (e.g. computer,

serial cable, etc.) to conduct the upgrade.3. Dealer must have qualified personnel to perform the upgrade.4. An antenna set-up (dish) must be present to conduct testing and

activation of IRD before and after the upgrade.5. Dealer can document subscriber’s details.6. Dealer must have substantial “over the counter sale” of pre-paid cards.

PARAMETERS FOR UPGRADE:1. Subscriber must be active, with priority on packages under 890/690.2. Subscriber must have the new “D3” smartcard. 3. Dealer can collect P100.00 per every IRD upgrade.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS REQUIRED:1. RS-232 Serial Cable (Please refer to PIN configuration below)

2. Serial Upgrade Files (ViStar_rs232_upgrade)3. Monitoring device (Television set)4. Computer (Desktop/ Laptop with Serial Port)

STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS:1. Connect the RS-232 serial cable to the COM 1 or COM 2 port of the PC

and to the serial pot of the IRD.2. Connect the IRD to the Audio/Video (A/V) port of the TV using RCA cable.3. Verify the current status of the IRD;

a. Check if the subscription/contract of the IRD is still active or valid (The box must have an active subscription for the later verification stage of the upgrade).

b. Check the software (S/W) version of the IRD. Press “Menu>System Information>System Diagnostic” .

c. Take note of the software version and converter software version (To be compared with the new software version after the upgrade is finished).

STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS (continued):4. Copy folder “Vistar_rs232_upgrade” on your “Desktop folder”5. Open the file folder “Vistar_rs232_upgrade” on the Desktop.6. Open file folder “VISTAR1234”.7. Double click the “setup.exe” to start installation of the program in your

PC (Follow the procedure shown).

8. After installation, go to “Start>Program Files>VIStar SW Update 3.0 (8Bytes)>TRANSMITTER”.

10. Open folder “Vistar_rs232_upgrade” and select “pmsi26A.ts”.

press “OK”. Software upgrade is complete.

13. Check if the IRD has been upgraded by verifying the software version;a. Press “Menu>System Information>System Diagnostic” (As

previously done in Step 3). Software version should be 02.0113.07.26 or 02.0113.07.27, Loader version should be 0291812.07.03.

b. Press “Back” once and select “Conditional Access”, Converter software version should be CAK_D2D3 1.3.1-1.0.5.
