Technology Coordinator Responsibilities

Confirm all test specifications have been met for all computers to be used during test administration.

Install the Student Test Workstation (STW) onto each student computer that will be used for testing.

Utilize the training materials to learn about the system and how the workstations interact.

Confirm the Proctor Test Workstations (PTWs) have wired connections and there is one PTW per test administrator per classroom.

Just prior to testing, assist with opening Student Test Workstations (STWs) on the student laptops.

Assist the Test Coordinator and Test Administrator with technological issues during testing.

iTest System Components – DAS

Manage staff data – Test Administrator accounts are manually added by the Test Coordinator

Manage student data – students are loaded by MeCAS for each school but can also be manually added or removed

iTest System Components – PTW

Proctor Test Workstation (PTW):Accessible at URL: http://mecas.measuredprogress.org/tds/proctor

Requires a login – created by the Test Coordinator in the Data Administration System (DAS)

Used to open, close, pause, and monitor tests and test sessions

One PTW must be open in each classroom during testing

The PTW should be a wired (not wireless) machine during testing as disconnection or lapse in connection of the PTW will also disconnect students from the test

Downloading the STW

To download the STW from Measured Progress iServices:

Go to: http://iservices.measuredprogress.org

From the contract drop-down menu, select ‘Maine’ and click ‘Enter’

On the next screen, click the ‘Online Science Materials’ button

On the next screen, click the ‘MeCAS Online Science Materials’ link

Click the ‘Technology’ button

Save this page to your Favorites or Bookmarks if desired

The Technology page is also accessible from the DAS home page during the test windows

In order to access the DAS, a Technology Coordinator must have a Test Administrator account created by the principal or test coordinator at the school

NOTE: Schools using 2012 or previous MLTI laptops can use the installers on the Technology page. Schools using 2013 MLTI laptops should access the STW installer through the Casper Self Service Suite.

WindowsThe STW is packaged within an .MSI (Microsoft Installer) package

The applications can be downloaded once and then distributed to computers within a computer lab or media center:

Download the .MSI to a shared drive; push to student computers and run through the installation dialog

USB flash drives, if only downloading to a few computers

If desired, the .MSI can be pushed to student computers as silent or unattended installs – please refer to the installation guide

MacintoshThe STW is packaged for both single installations and for distribution via ARD (recommended)

The installation creates a user profile on the Macintosh computer

If not using ARD, the applications can be downloaded once, and then distributed to computers within a computer lab or media center:

USB flash drives, if only downloading to a few computers

NOTE: Schools using 2012 or previous MLTI laptops can use the installers on the Technology page. Schools using 2013 MLTI laptops should access the STW installer through the Casper Self Service Suite.

Technical Requirements

Network-level technical requirements:Proxies, firewalls, or other internet content filtering devices or packages must allow access to the measuredprogress.org domain for any computers accessing the DAS, PTW, or STW

IP address of Measured Progress web server: 64.140.199.50

SSL must be enabled (port 80 and 443)

Technical requirements for computers accessing the DAS or PTW:Macintosh: OS 10.5.8, 10.6.8, 10.7.5, 10.8.4

Macintosh browser: Safari 5 or 6, or Firefox 17 ESR

Maine MLTI computers are certified (MLTI III 2012)

Macintosh Note: Not yet certified to run the PTW or DAS from iPads

Windows: XP SP3, Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1

Windows browser: IE 7, 8, 9, 10 or Firefox 17 ESR

Technical requirements for student computers (STW):Maine MLTI computers are certified (MLTI III 2012)

Macintosh browser: None required – FPK installed as part of STW

Macintosh Note: Not yet certified to run the STW from iPads

General: 1 GB or greater; 2 GB or greater for some configurations and 64-bit operating systems

Starting the STW

Open the student kiosks to display the student login page by completing the following:

For students using MacintoshLog into the Macintosh computer:If students are using a kiosk that was installed in 2013-14, useuser name: mpsc_01 and password: secureIf students are using a kiosk that was installed prior to 2013-14, use user name: NECAP and password: P@t3ll@Open the Applications folder from the dock and launch the Portable Firefox Kiosk application

Once testing is complete, each Macintosh computer should be logged out / logged in under its normal account

For students using WindowsDouble-click the STWKiosk icon on the desktop Click Accept if prompted to view and accept the certificate

Students will log into the STW using their Student Login Tickets.
