Vide reference 1st cited, the Government of India has introduced Measles –

Rubella Vaccine in a phased manner across the country. In the 1st phase in Karnataka,

Tamil Nadu, Goa, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep, more than 3.3 Crore children in the

age group of 9months-15years were successfully immunized. In the second phase the

Government of India has selected 8 States including Telangana.

2) The Measles-Rubella campaign is one of the massive public health activity

targeting the children of age of 9 months to 15 years. The Measles-Rubella campaign

will be conducted from 17th August 2017. This will be followed up by Routine

Immunization replacing the currently given measles vaccine and will rapidly build up

immunity for both measles and rubella and reduce the measles and rubella

transmission. Measles immunization reduces under–five children deaths and Rubella

immunisation controls congenital Rubella syndrome (CRS). With the combination of

Measles-Rubella vaccine, the disabilities will be reduced to a great extent among

children.

3) The Measles-Rubella vaccination will be provided through sites at schools and

outreach session sites. The period of campaign is for 5 weeks starting from 17th August

2017.

4) In view of the Public Health importance attached to this campaign, the

Government hereby order that all schools in the state both public and private schools

shall participate in the vaccination campaign and the Head Masters of the Government

Schools and the management of the Private schools shall ensure the presence of 100%

children during the campaign to enable the health staff to immunize all children. It is

further ordered that all Principals/Head Masters of Government and Private schools

shall conduct the Parent-Teacher meetings and sensitise the parents about the benefits

of this vaccine.

Old City of Hyderabad

• Review of MOs, SPHOs by CHFW

• Cluster level meetings with MOs, Deputy DEO, CDPO ICDS, Corporators, Local Leaders etc

• Daily review of old city MOs at the O/o CHFW for identifying and addressing the issues immediately

• Deputation of DMHOs from other districts along with staff of the same community who were well versed in URDU for advocacy in refusal schools, Madrassa and Masjids

• Resistant area UPHCs were given support by deputing 1-2 more MOs from other districts

• Personal advocacy of CHFW and CPO with the Siyasat urdu daily newspapers
