    1. Purpose

     This method statement describes the steps to be followed for theerection of the Elevator shaft structure at Katara R1.• This Method Statement must be used and referenced in the pre-work“Tool Bo talk! brie"n#.• $n% chan#es to the MS must be noted and addressed in the pre-workmeetin#.• $ll personnel must be familiar with this document prior tocommencin# an% work.

    • $n% risks identi"ed as part of this MS must ha&e ade'uate controlmethods identi"ed prior to commencement of work.• This Method Statement must be eplained to all personnel in&ol&edin the work process( prior to commencin# work.

    2. Scope

     This method statement describes the steps to be followed on

    erection of the ele&ator shaft structure. This Method Statement is prepared speci"call% for this acti&it%

    and aims to pro&ide information and awareness to the responsible

    personnel in&ol&ed on the erection of the ele&ator shaft.

    . !esponsi"ilities

     Site Engineer ) Site *n#ineer is responsible for eecutin# the

     +ob and manpower control accordin# to plan schedule to workand client,customer standard.

      QC Engineer ) *n#ineer is responsible for maintainin#the +ob accordin# to ustomer 'ualit% need.

      Safety Ocer ) Safet% /0cer is responsible to maintainthe site in safe condition and keep monitorin# the on#oin# workaccordin# to ustomer Safet% Standards.

    $.1.1Preparation of the area

    • $ll entr% pass , documents re'uired on the unloadin# siteshall be prepared( compiled and in possession of the Sitesuper&isor prior for entr% to the desi#nated unloadin# area.

     The responsible personnel on the side of the client shall beinformed prior for an% unloadin# acti&it%. This shall be donein order to pro&ide full awareness to the client for theacti&it% to be eecuted.

    •  The desi#nated unloadin# area shall be checked b% theSafet% /0cer for an% obstruction that ma% hinder theunloadin# acti&it% and cause unsafe situation for allpersonnel in&ol&ed on the acti&it%.

    • $fter the area has been checked and cleared( it shall be

    isolated and barricaded with safet% haard tape( to keepunauthoried entr%.

    • 2pon completion of all the necessar% entr% pass andclearance on the desi#nated area( the &ehicle where thematerials are loaded shall enter and mo&e to the unloadin#point.

    $.1.2'nloa*ing of )aterial

    • 2nloadin# of the material shall be performed in a safemanner. $ll the components shall be unloaded b% the forklift. 3t shall be assisted b% banks man( in order to a&oidunsafe condition and minimie the risk of dama#in# thematerials bein# unloaded.

    •  The components shall be se#re#ated in an orderl% manner(pro&idin# enou#h space to mo&e them con&enientl% durin#assembl% acti&it%.

    • $ material receipt report( attached with the material listcan be submitted to the client store representati&e for si#nand appro&al should the client re'uire documents forrecord purpose.

    $.2.1 Installation of sca+ol*ing

    a. Sca4oldin# shall be erected for access purpose durin# theerection phase of the ele&ator shaft. These accessplatforms shall be positioned on certain locations wherethe erectors re'uire ade'uate access space durin#assembl%.

    b. The sca4olds shall be checked and warranted “safe to use!b% the Safet% /0cer prior for use.

    $.2.2Anchor "olt ,xing

    a. 5a%-outin# shall be carried out as per the desi#n drawin#

    issued b% the client for the location of the anchor bolts. Thedimensions stated on the drawin# shall ser&e as the#uidelines to obtain the eact position of the anchor boltsto be installed.

    b. $fter the la%-out has been done and eact position hasbeen obtained( drillin# of the #round shall proceed. Thisshall be done on the speci"ed locations where the columnshall be erected. The depth of the hole shall be 167mmminimum. $fter drillin# has been done( the hole shall becleaned to remo&e loose dust particles.

    c. $fter cleanin#( each hole shall be applied with -ilti -I!e0 anchor chemical( followed b% embeddin# of theanchor bolts. Miin# and application of the anchorchemical shall be in accordance with the instruction statedon the Technical 8ata sheet of -ilti -I!e0.

    $.2.Erection of co)ponents

    a. The erection acti&it% shall be monitored b% the Safet%o0cer to ensure a safe

    a liftin# frame. This liftin# frame is composed of 9 $ framesand a liftin# beam( accompanied with chain blocks. Thisshall be assembled prior for erectin# the columns.

    c. The $ frames( which are intended for the positionin# of thecolumns( shall be situated on top of each buildin# besidethe erection area. The liftin# beam shall be lifted net. Thisshall be lifted manuall% onto the location at the top nearthe $ :rame.

    d. /nce the liftin# beam is lifted( the $ :rames shall now beerected. The frames shall be positioned onto the areawhere the columns shall be erected( pro&idin# assistanceon liftin# the columns.

    e. $fter the frames are positioned( the liftin# beam shall beinstalled net. 3t shall be placed on top of the $ frame( withboth ends secured on each frames. 2pon securin# theliftin# beam( the chain blocks shall be installed net. Thischain blocks shall be "ed on the desi#nated plates whichare connected onto the liftin# beam.

    f. $s soon as the liftin# frame is assembled( the columnerection shall proceed. The columns which are located on

    the inner corner shall be lifted "rst. The columns shall belifted b% anchorin# the liftin# hook of the chain block onthe liftin# lu# attached on the columns. /nce the columnsare lifted( it shall be "ed on location b% insertin# the baseplates onto the anchor bolts and fastenin# the nut.

    #. 8urin# the liftin# phase( the columns shall be manuall%positioned on the #round b% erectors b% #uidin# thedirection of it while it is lifted. *ach erector shall carefull%direct the mo&ement of the column( sli#htl% mo&in# it fromtime to time( until the desired position has been reached.

    h. 2pon erectin# the "rst 9 columns( the liftin# frame shall

    be mo&ed to the position near the net columns shall beerected. /nce the liftin# frame is set( the same procedurestated on entr% “f  “; “g shall be repeated.

    i. $fter all the columns are erected( le&ellin# shall proceed.*ach column shall be le&elled to ensure the strai#htnessand uniformit% of the structure. This shall be done b% usin#a water bar le&el.

    $.2.$3ea)s / support erection

    a. *ach beam to be connected onto each column shall also belifted usin# the liftin# frame. These beams shall be "ed inaccordance to the desi#n drawin# issued b% the client.

    b. The liftin# procedure shall be similar to the ones mentionedon the pre&ious acti&it%.

    c. *ach lifted beams shall be positioned b% the erectors onthe desi#nated location indicated on the drawin#. 2ponreachin# it( each ends shall be tack welded onto thesurface of the column to pro&ide temporar% hold point.

    d. $fter all ed#es are tacked( it shall be le&elled usin# barwater le&el. /nce le&elness is achie&ed( the ed#es shall befull-welded.

    e. This procedure shall be repeated until all structural beamsare erected.

    $.2.0 Installation of a**itional sca+ol*ing

    a. Sca4oldin# shall be installed around each sections of the erectedstructure.

    b. The platform shall be erected for con&enience of the PI? shall be assi#ned to eecutethe test. $ report shall be #enerated for record of the

    use of emer% disc-"ed an#le #rinder and @rade 67 sand paper.:or corners( pencil #rinder shall be used if the emer% disc isunusable.

    c. *cess welds( tacks and unwanted forei#n matter on the surfaceand corner connection of the steel structure shall be mandatoril%remo&ed.

    d. $fter the surface preparation has been done( stripe-coatin# shallbe initiated. This shall be done b% appl%in# metal primer oncorners and ed#es usin# brush. This is to ensure that thesesecluded areas are full% coated with paint.

    e. $fter stripe-coatin#( full coatin# shall proceed. The primer coatshall be full% applied usin# hand-roller. The surface must be full%coated without an% trace of eposed substrate. Should the coatlook thin( another coat of primer shall be applied to achie&e thedesired appearance.

    f. $fter the structure is full% primed and dried( the epo% topcoatshall be applied net.

    #. Aith similarit% with the primer application( stripe-coatin# shallalso be done for the topcoat application. $fterwards( the fullapplication shall be initiated usin# hand roller. The procedure

    shall be done until the desired &isual appearance has beenachie&ed.

    $.2.9&is)antling

    a. $fter the paint application has been completed( dismantlin# ofthe liftin# frame and sca4oldin#s shall proceed.

    ". omponents of the liftin# frame shall be disassembled b%remo&in# the liftin# beam "rst. The chain blocks shall be

    remo&ed from their connector plates one b% one. $fter that( thebolted connection shall be loosened up and be brou#ht down.$fterwards( the $-frames are to follow.

    c. $fter the liftin# frame has been remo&ed( the sca4oldin# shall bedismantled net.

    *. *tra caution shall be obser&ed durin# dismantlin# sta#e in orderto a&oid dama#in# the coated structure.

    e. $n% surface of the steel structure dama#ed durin# thedismantlin# sta#e shall be sub+ect for repair.

    • $ll e'uipment( plant( machineries and tools that shall be utilied inthe +ob shall be kept in #ood workin# condition.

    • $ccess and #ood housekeepin# should be maintained in all erection

    areas.

    • Aorkin# area shall be barricaded with Aarnin# Tape.

    • Safet% watch shall be present from start up to the completion of theinstallation,erection work( to pre&ent unauthoried entr% onto thework area and pro&ide immediate response assistance in case of emer#enc%.

    • $ll site-desi#nated superiors and workers are re'uired to wear the==* speci"call% re'uired b% the client at the work site.3mplementation of the safet% rules are to be full% eecuted b% theSafet% o0cer.
