2. OBJECTIVE
OF THE
GUIDELINES
• The objective of these guidelines is to have a minimum common approach on road safety for all MDBs. This means a common approach for Road Safety in general, and in particular for MDB funded road and transport projects, as well as other projects that generate important amount of traffic.
• This approach takes in account the fact thatMBDs have a strong relation with road, transportation and infrastructure agencies due to the projects that they finance.
• These guidelines intend to take advantage of this situation with the aim to enhance roadsafety in the countries, cities and regionswhere they work.

METHODOLOGY
OF THE
GUIDELINES
• Roads (rural and urban)
• Transit projects
• Large infrastructure projects thatgenerate flows of pedestrians, orvehicles, so as: hospitals, modalinterchange infrastructure (airports,border crossing, stadiums, schools,recreational areas, etc.).
• Projects that require work on roads thatgenerate a risk for road users.
• Projects that include transportation ofpersonnel for their development (egvaccination campaign).
