McQueen jets back for •Accelerate anniversary HE DIAFT A FAMILIAR face in town for the first anniversary of the Wollongong business accelerator was Internetrix managing director Geoff McQueen. Mr McQueen now lives in San Francisco but was heayily involved in the early stages of iAccelerate. After suggesting the idea for a StartPad in the Wollongong CBD he was excited to visit the incubator and meet 17 start-ups being mentored by Global Solution Strategies' directors Takahiro and Joanna Kubota. "It is great to see this," Mr McQueen said. Mr McQueen moved to the United States after spending three weeks in San Francisco last May as a guest of Google at its premier international conference, GooglelO. He was invited to speak at the hottest event in the international tech industry calendar because of the global interest in his new start-up company Hiive Systems and its AffinityLive product. Google had earlier accepted AffinityLive into its Google Apps Marketplace. Hiive Systems was spun out of Internetrix, which was established in 2000 to build powerful websites with leading technology for clients such as Crown Casino and Foxtel. Hiive applications was initially developed as an internal management suite for Internetrix in 2004 but interest in AffinityLive in Silicon Valley prompted Mr McQueen to start building up sales and marketing opportunities in the US.
