Decoration Day:The McMahan cemetery decoration day this year is August 10. The business meeting of the McMahan Cemetery TrustFund will begin at 10 a.m. Attendance the last 2 years has really been good; we hope everyone can make it this year.

Cemetery Improvements:Improvements to the cemetery over the past year include:

Trees that were growing in the fence row at the northeast corner were removed to avoid damage to the new fencethat was installed.

Recently, deer had been wandering into the cemetery when gates were left open. Signs were placed on each ofthe three (3) gate entrances to remind visitors to close and latch the gates when leaving.

A special THANK YOU to Ray Mahaffa for the excellent job he does maintaining the cemetery property. For thepast 2 years, he has kept the property looking better than ever before.

Recent Deaths:Sandra Kay (Sams) McCoy -- b. May 27, 1953, d. September 27, 2012. Wife of Jerry McCoy. Daughter of Cecil Samsand Eula (Robbins) Sams Bogle.

Ronnie Elgin Ramsey b. January 19, 1989, d. December 15, 2012. Son of Doug Ramsey and Sherry (Smith) Ramsey.Grandson of Charles Smith and Ernestine (Rogers) Smith Bryant.

Patricia Ann Hillis b. April 9, 1955, d. January 21, 2013. Daughter of Louie Merritt Hillis and Violet Faye (Haley) Hillis.

Paul Gwynn Smith b. September 1, 1925, d. June 1, 2013. Husband of Juanita (Smithson) Smith. Son of Horace

Smith and Lilly (Swanger) Smith.

Cemetery Directory:The Third Edition of the McMahan Cemetery Directory will be available at the business meeting on August 10. Cemetery Web Sites:A McMahan Cemetery web site is located on Facebookat: www.facebook.com/McMahanCemetery Information has alsobeen entered into the Find A Grave website at: www.findagrave.com. Several updates have been made to both websites over the past year. The web sites contain all the information contained in the McMahan Cemetery Directory. Weencourge everyone to submit additional photos to be included in the web sites. Electronic copies of photos can be emailedto: [email protected] You may also send photos to Roger Pelham at the address above. Any photos sentto Roger will be scanned into the computer then mailed back to you. If you email or send photos, please include informationabout who is included in each picture and the approximate date/year the picture was taken, if you know. Wed like to havepictures of everyone buried at McMahan and encourage everyone to send in pictures.

Trust Fund Membership & Reserved PlotCertificates:

Roger Pelham developed a draft Trust Fund Membership & Reserved Plot Certificate and presented the draft certificate tothe Directors for review in the October 2012 Directors meeting. The certificate was approved to be issued to individualsthat are members of the Trust Fund that have plots reserved that are not designated on a headstone in the cemetery. Fifty-eight (58) certificates were printed and mailed to individuals who have reserved plots that are not already designated on a

headstone. Records will be maintained for reserved cemetery plots for any individual that is a member of the Trust Fundand the membership certificate will also include the designation of the members reserved plot(s). During the October 2012meeting, the Directors also voted to leave the minimum contribution at $200 for individuals who wish to become membersper the vote that was taken in August 2010.
