McKnight Elementary School PFA

2017 Winter After School Program

It is Winter After School Program time again! Once again this year, the McKnight PFA is thrilled to offer your students a variety of fun and educational opportunities within their school. Our sincere thanks to the awesome instructors who have agreed to teach these classes for your students, as none of the classes would happen without them. The class catalog follows, but here are some program highlights:

Registration is online only, through the following website: http://www.mcknightpfa.org/After-School-Programs/

Registration will OPEN on Thursday, December 8th and will CLOSE on Saturday, December 24th! Late registrations are challenging to accommodate. Please endeavor to be conscious of our deadlines.

Every class has both a minimum and a maximum number of participants and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Classes tend to fill quickly!

Most classes begin the week of January 9th and run for four, five, or six sessions.

Every class begins at 3:30pm in the designated location and most end at 4:30pm.

No transportation is provided!

At the end of each class session, adults must sign out their students from the classrooms, unless the students currently attend the YMCA After School Program. Instructors are able to transfer currently enrolled Y students from a class to the YMCA Program.

These classes are always such fun afternoons for our McKnight students! They provide a great way to spice up those chilly winter days while learning some incredible new skills and information. We can’t wait to get them started!

Any questions? Please do not hesitate to contact Allyson Minton via [email protected] or 301-462-9519.

Thank you so much for your interest in these programs!

If you need financial assistance, please contact Mr. Shute: [email protected] or 412-635-4105.

Important Online Registration Tips

Please, please, PLEASE read the details below. Will it be the most exciting thirty seconds of your day? Probably not. But it will go a long way to helping you understand just how online

registration works. It’s worth the thirty seconds – trust us.

Don’t wait to register! These classes may fill very quickly.

As you know by now, every class has a minimum and a maximum number of participants.

If there are available class spots, you will see a dark red “IN STOCK:” in the class’s box

followed by the number of available spots.

If that “IN STOCK:” is missing, or if you click on the class and see a “0” or a negative quantity, the class is FULL.

If the class is full, you can register to have your student placed on a “Waiting List”. You

will have to enter your credit card info. You WILL NOT BE CHARGED and your credit card information will not be stored. You WILL still receive a confirmation email, but that DOES NOT change your “Waiting List” status.

IF ROOM BECOMES AVAILABLE in the class, you will receive an electronic invoice via e-

mail from our Treasurer, Anne Stalter. To move from the “Waiting List” to the actual class, you must pay for the class via the link found in that electronic invoice. (As mentioned above, we do not store your credit card info. You will need to resubmit.)

We realize this is not the most intuitive process in the world, but we are so grateful for the tremendous value that comes with the website. No more printing PDFs and filling out paper forms. You can now use your credit card or your PayPal account. Perhaps most importantly, you can see immediately where class spots still exist. You no longer send in a registration form just hoping your student makes it into a class. Immediate feedback is awesome! We love those features and hope you do, too.

Thanks very much for your patience and support!

If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to contact Allyson Minton via [email protected] or 301-462-9519!

Phew! That’s it… All twenty-four classes! Everything from acting to crafts to coding to painting to programmable Legos to science experiments and everything in between! We so hope there is something in there your student will absolutely love. Amazing things can happen when new passions are ignited in our

kiddos.

Thanks for taking the time to consider our programs. We hope to see you in January!
