“Dirt” is not a
lecture or semi-
nar, “Dirt” is a
play of many

formed by one ac-
tor.
John Morello gets
people’s attention
to serious topics
by using comedy.
He changes char-
acters to tell a
story which is in-
formative and im-
portant to young
adults about how
too many of our
young people are
doing drugs, and
drinking alcohol.
Audiences are sure
to see someone they
know or can re-
late to, and it is this
resemblance that
has been connect-
ing with young
people across the
country.
Although it’s
funny, and amus-
ing it is supposed
to send out a seri-
ous message about

This is an entry from last year’s seventh
grade agenda cover competition done by
Sophie Wiersma. Every year a seventh
grader’s picture is chosen to be the follow-
ing year’s agenda cover.

These are pictures from all
around the school. They are to help
you explore our new school. If you
find these you get to have your name
in the next issue. Each week the pic-
tures will get harder and harder. This
week will be an easy week. Write your
name, grade, and where each picture is
down on a piece of paper and turn it
into the yellow newspaper box outside
the cafeteria. If you guess the places of
the pictures correctly, your name will
be placed in the next issue of the
school newspaper as the winner of the
first week’s picture contest.

First Night
By Grace Turgeon
Uxbridge First Night was a success. People were able to play fun carnival games, buy hot chocolate and other yummy things, and even ride a trolley. The trolley ride took you to River
Bend Farm where you could look at beauti-ful paintings, or take a hayride. The hay-ride took you in a cir-cle, and around the circle were nice Christmas decora-tions. The parade was just amazing- they
threw candy to the kids. They had many different floats, and Santa even talked to the crowd. First Night is definitely a fun place to be around the holidays.
McCloskey Messenger Political Hub
“Fiscal Cliff”
Welcome back to the McCloskey Messenger, political hub. This month, we are going to talk about the “fiscal cliff”. This is a serious matter as it will be the difference between a TERRIBLE economy, and a stable economy. The fiscal cliff is what they are calling the conflict be-tween the republicans and democrats over what will happen when the Bush ad-ministration tax cuts expire. Considering that the democrats won the election, they
have say over what hap-pens, but the republi-cans won the house, and any law or bill has to go through the house in order to be active. Obama is saying that he wants to raise taxes on the rich. (They consider rich as any family who makes $250,000.00 a year or a single person who makes $200,000.000 or more a year). The republicans want to lower the gov-ernment spending budget so they don’t have to raise taxes on “richer” people. They are trying to come to an
agreement where they will raise taxes a little, and lower the govern-ment budget. If they do not come to an agree-ment by next year on the 1st of January, then taxes will automatically raise for everybody. They are desperately trying to avoid that. We will find out what will happen by the end of this month. Thank you for reading and I will see you next time. Bye.
