In 2008, MCCC Board of Directors honored Verl Zanders by renaming the Emerging Business of the Year Award. Verl Zanders was an extraordinary mentor to small business owners. He used the power of his example to inspire others to succeed. Verl’s company Z-Tech received the Emerging Business of the Year Award in 2006. MCCCF created and manages The National Center for Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP) - the country’s first-ever program to train veteran service-disabled and veteran owned small businesses to succeed in the federal contracting market. Today, it is a true public private partnership with support from Montgomery County, the State of Maryland and U.S. Small Business Administration to supplement private sector contributions.
