McCall Centennial Committee Meeting Minutes 6/1/11 Present: Brian Corcoran, Dean lVIartens, Lex Bernstein, Steve Forrey, Shorty Clarke, Detra Borner, Phil Feinberg, Lindley Kirkpatrick, Jackie Aymon, Lyle Nelson, Marcia Witte, Nelson Witte, Carol Coyle The meeting was called to order by Dean at 6 pm. A quorum was present. The minutes of 5/17/11 were reviewed. Dean moved to approve the minutes; Shorty seconded the motion and the motion passed. Subcommittee updates: Events: BBQ-Shorty discussed quantities of food to order as he is concerned about having too much. He said he has encountered people who have not heard about the event. Dean said that the marketing subcommittee will report on their plans later in the meeting. Shorty indicated the Centennial wine will be released about June 10 th It was suggested that the groundbreaking for the Centennial park be at 11:30 and then people should be encouraged to have lunch nearby at the local restaurants. Members discussed the schedule of events to be as follows: July 19 th 11:30 am Groundbreaking at public parking area for future Centennial park 4:30 pm begin set up for street fair 4:30 pm BBQ and music begin 5:30-7:30 pm Street Fair 7:30 pm Zumba dancers at Legacy 8:00pm Set up for cake cutting/announce 8:15 pm Sing Happy Birthday/cut and serve cake and ice cream UntillOpm Music Members asked about closing Second Street and also E. Lake Street. Lindley said he would take care of the closure. Street Fair- Jackie reported that she has applications for 15-20 booths so far. Golf course clubhouse staff will deliver and pick up tables for booths. She said she still needs umbrellas. There are no talent sign ups as of yet. Dean suggested contacting Michael Deeds with the Statesman to see if any of the Curb Cup participants might come up. Carol distributed a request for funding for the Soles for Souls program through the Library. Lindley indicated that the cost for that could be handled by the City and not Centennial funding. Lex reported he had met with teachers and that he thought Graham Pinard, MDSD music teacher, would have a brass band for the event. Lex will follow up. He will also check with sports teams to see if they will do a booth. Dean suggested that EMS/MFD be available. It was mentioned that the Fire Department was going to have a fire truck on display for the street fair. Carol reported on the Project 100 entrants. There will be a kayak race on June 19 th at North Beach. It is expected that additional event will happen between now and the July 19 th Centennial Committee Minutes Page 1 of 2

McCall Centennial Committee Meeting Minutes 6/1/11

Present: Brian Corcoran, Dean lVIartens, Lex Bernstein, Steve Forrey, Shorty Clarke, Detra Borner, Phil Feinberg, Lindley Kirkpatrick, Jackie Aymon, Lyle Nelson, Marcia Witte, Nelson Witte, Carol Coyle

The meeting was called to order by Dean at 6 pm. A quorum was present. The minutes of 5/17/11 were reviewed. Dean moved to approve the minutes; Shorty seconded the motion and the motion passed.

logo/Merchandise: Members discussed the option of allowing businesses to use the logo without charge. It was discussed that the logo could be used for other centennial themed events and merchandise, but that the MCC would control how it might be used. Members discussed that each business could be contacted with a packet of info about the Centennial and a large logo sticker for their business. Phil also said he would like to sell Centennial logo posters at the event. lyle moved that merchants will be allowed to use the logo at no charge and the MCC retains control over what it is used for. Detra seconded the motion and the motion passed.

Marketing: lyle said there will be)il page ad in the Star News on July 14th with a calendar of events and a time line. Carol suggested that the highway banner is a good way to let people know of the event since many cars pass through the banner area each day. It will be up July 11-25. lyle wants to do a promotional package for hotels and vacation rentals. phil will order 150 large logo stickers for businesses. Carol will get a business list and the packets will go out the week of June 13th and will include a sticker, schedule of events, flyer with ideas for Project 100, and a page on the Centennial park.

A press release about the event will be in the Star News the second week in June. It was suggested that businesses that have a sign board be asked to promote the event.

Book: No book report.

Historical: Carol distributed a copy of the semi-final draft of the walking tour brochure. The June article in the Star News will be about timber, the mills and the Browns. The July article will highlight the walking tour and the Centennial.

lex described a boat building/design contest he was aware of and suggested that it could be a project in the future. Dean suggested Lex look into this as a fundraiser for future events.

Finance: No report.

Centennial Park: Phil and Dean met with Luke Vannoy and consulted by phone with Dave Armstrong. An updated design board will be available for the neighborhood meeting on June 6th

. Lyle and Dean will present the project to P & Z on June ih. Phil discussed a fundraising plan to include soliciting large donations from those who would be interested in supporting the park development, as well as the brick program. The plaques would identify contributors to the town over the years. Brian expressed concern regarding how the name collection would occur and the issue about leaving out someone who had been instrumental to the town's development. Phil plans to get people together who have knowledge of early business people and other contributors.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm. The next meeting will be June 21, 2011.
