Introduction
4
Introduction Why is Encryption Important?
The purpose of data encryption is to prevent third party
access to corporate Information stored in PCs and
removable media due to theft or loss of the equipment
and complies with the corporate Information Protection
Policy
5
Full Disk Encryption: McAfee EPE encrypts the laptop’s hard disk at a lower
level, which means that the data is not reachable for unauthorized people
Encryption is user-transparent and automatic: The operation of the
software does not require user intervention or training.
Removable media (USB) encryption: Protects sensitive information by
encrypting it when copied to removable media such as a USB external hard
drive or memory stick
No user downtime: Encryption occurs in the background without noticeable
performance loss
Self Service Recovery Utility: Provides access to laptop when the system
password is forgotten and the user is locked out
